Lee Soo-young

Lee Soo-Young (born Lee Ji Yeon, April 12, 1979 in Seoul, South Korea) is a Korean ballad singer. She made her debut in 1999 in Korea with the hit “I Believe.” Currently, she has nine released albums and five mini-albums (labeled as Holiday in Lombok, Classic, As Time Goes By, An Autumn Day, Once) and sang six OSTs. She’s recognized in Korea for her powerful voice and although she rarely appears in her own music videos, she has earned a lot of popularity. She has also recently appeared on a number of variety shows, displaying her sense of humour and her ability to be comical and carefree, adding to her popularity. Today she is considered one of Korea’s most famous and accomplished ballad singers.

In 2001, she sang the official Korean version of the Final Fantasy X song “Suteki Da Ne” in Korean, titled “얼마나 좋을까” (“Eolmana Joheulkka”).

She released her seventh album, Grace, on January 21, 2006. It performed very well, able to shoot straight to the top of the charts. The popularity of the album led to a limited edition (repackage) release of Grace, of which only 30,000 copies were produced.

Dazzle (song)

"Dazzle" is a song by English post-punk band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was released in 1984 by record label Polydor as the second single from their sixth studio album, Hyæna.

Content

The song begins with a gradual fade-in of an orchestral string section and progresses to a drum-driven, majestic anthem. The lyrics "swallowing diamonds/A cutting throat" were derived from the final scene of Marathon Man where Laurence Olivier puts diamonds in his mouth. Sioux's vocals are accentuated by expansive reverb effects.

The string section piece that opens the track was actually called "Baby Piano" (a rough piano demo and the finished string section version were both included as bonus tracks on the 2009 reissue of Hyæna).

Release

"Dazzle" was released on 25 May 1984 by record label Polydor as the second single from the band's sixth studio album, Hyæna. It climbed to number 33 on the UK Singles Chart and was Siouxsie and the Banshees' eleventh top 40 UK hit.

The slash (US) or stroke (UK), formally the solidus (/), is an oblique slanting line used as a punctuation mark and for various other purposes. It has several other historical or technical names.

History

Slashes may be found in early writing as a variant form of dashes, vertical strokes, &c. The present use of a slash distinguished from such other marks derives from the medieval European virgule (Latin: virgula, lit. "twig"), which was used as a period, scratch comma, and caesura mark. The Fraktur script used throughout Central Europe in the early modern period used a single slash as a scratch comma and a double slash (//) as a dash. The scratch comma was eventually shortened into the modern comma ⟨,⟩, while the double dash developed into the double oblique hyphen ⟨⸗⟩ and double hyphen ⟨＝⟩ or ⟨゠⟩ before being usually simplified into various single dashes.

Slash (also known as Sister Agony) is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe, most notably as a member of the Sisters of Sin.

Publication history

Sister Agony first appeared in Captain America #294-296 (June-August 1984), and was created by J.M. DeMatteis and Paul Neary.

The character subsequently appears in Captain America #298-299 (October-November 1984), and #301 (January 1985). The character subsequently appears as Slash in #355-357 (July-September 1989), and I ♥ Marvel: Outlaw Love (April 2006).

Slash appeared as part of the "Sisters of Sin" entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 #7.

Fictional character biography

A member of the Sisters of Sin, Slash was a young disciple of the Red Skull. Her physical age was accelerated into an old woman, calling herself Sister Agony because of the razor-sharp talons she had in place of her hands. She and her Sisters attacked Captain America but were defeated. She was eventually restored to her natural age. However, soon after, she returned alongside the Sisters of Sin, this time as a young adult. She and her sisters were once again defeated by Captain America.
