Mina (1964 album)

Mina is an album by Italian singer Mina, issued in 1964. It was her first album to reach Italian Top. It was also the first album that Mina recorded for the label Ri-Fi and the first album composed of tracks expressly sung for. In 1967, the label Philips pusblished a cassette tape of the album all over Europe under the title of Many Faces of Mina.

Over the years, Mina re-recorded some of the songs of this album. In 1988, she sang again "E se domani" for her compilation album Oggi ti amo di più. In 1993 and in 2012, she made a new cover of "Everything Happens to Me" (respectively in Lochness and in 12 (american song book)). In 2005, in her tribute album to Frank Sinatra, L'allieva, she sang again the standards "The Nearness of You" and "Angel Eyes", while - in 1964 - she made a Spanish version of "E se domani" under the title of "Y si mañana".

Mina (born 4 October 1993) is a German pop musician who became famous because of a video at the online portal Myvideo which was watched by four million viewers.

Biography

Mina was born in Munich, where she attended a private school. When she was 13 years old she went to a music studio in Augsburg where she was allowed to record the song How The Angels Fly. This song peaked at #24 of the German music charts. After that, she produced a music video for the song which reached high popularity at the video portals of Myvideo and YouTube, resulting in a recording contract with Warner Music.

Her first album was released on 14 December 2007 and was called Learn To Fly. It peaked at #77 in the German album charts.

Her single, I will Not Let You Down, appeared on the German soundtrack release of the movie Juno.

Since May 2008 Mina hosts the show mädchen.tv, the TV format of the youth magazine of the same name.

A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building of over 40 floors, mostly designed for office, commercial and residential uses. A skyscraper can also be called a high-rise, but the term skyscraper is often used for buildings higher than 150 m (492 ft). For buildings above a height of 300 m (984 ft), the term Supertall can be used, while skyscrapers reaching beyond 600 m (1,969 ft) are classified as Megatall.

One common feature of skyscrapers is having a steel framework that supports curtain walls. These curtain walls either bear on the framework below or are suspended from the framework above, rather than load-bearing walls of conventional construction. Some early skyscrapers have a steel frame that enables the construction of load-bearing walls taller than of those made of reinforced concrete. Modern skyscrapers' walls are not load-bearing and most skyscrapers are characterized by large surface areas of windows made possible by the concept of steel frame and curtain walls. However, skyscrapers can have curtain walls that mimic conventional walls and a small surface area of windows. Modern skyscrapers often have a tubular structure, and are designed to act like a hollow cylinder to resist lateral loads (wind, seismic, etc.). To appear more slender, allow less wind exposure and to transmit more daylight to the ground, many skyscrapers have a design with setbacks.

Geauga Lake

Geauga Lake (previously named Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and Six Flags Ohio) was an amusement park located in Bainbridge Township and Aurora, Ohio, United States, founded in 1887. On September 21, 2007, Cedar Fair, the park's owner, announced that the traditional amusement park would close down and that the property would operate solely as a water park, beginning in the 2008 season. The water park is still open today as Wildwater Kingdom.

History

1887: Pre-amusement park era

Geauga Lake was originally known as "Picnic Lake" or "Giles Pond." The Geauga Lake area was home to early settlers such as the Staffords, Mark Patterson, Capt. Simon Henry with his wife Rhoda Parsons and their children, Charles Swires, the Brewsters, and Bohan Blair. There is currently a city park and ballfields on East Boulevard in Aurora, named after this lake. Sullivan Giles chose this area for his log cabin in 1817. He later built a large frame home on the spot behind Geauga Lake depot on the north side of the lake. When the railroad came to town in 1856, it made a stop at "pond station". Giles took advantage of his scenic lake location and, in the last half of the 19th century, established picnic grounds, a dance hall, and other entertainment near his home for the all-day pleasure of residents and those taking the train to the country for a getaway.
