Terminology
Spin (Darren Hayes album)
Spin is the first solo album released by ex-Savage Garden member Darren Hayes. The album was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge and produced by Walter Afanasieff. It was released in Australia in March 2002 and reached the rest of the world later that year. The album has sold over two million copies as of 2011.
Background
Hayes, continuing the trend from his years as Savage Garden's frontman, addresses romance on almost every track on the album. Walter Afanasieff, who had already worked on Savage Garden's Affirmation, oversaw the production of the majority of the album, with help from co-producers Greg Bieck, Rick Nowels and Robert Conley. Afanasieff produced five of the twelve tracks on the original release: "Insatiable", "Heart Attack", "Dirty", "Good Enough" and the title track, "Spin"; Bieck produced "Strange Relationship" and "I Miss You"; Nowels produced "Creepin' Up on You", "I Can't Ever Get Enough of You", "Like It or Not" and "What You Like"; and Conley solely produced the track "Crush (1980 Me)". Afanasieff also produced the Australian only bonus track, "The Heart Wants What It Wants", and the UK Collector's Edition bonus tracks, "I Wish U Heaven" and "Can't Help Falling in Love". Till 2006,the album sold 118,000 in United States.
Spin (Lifehouse song)
"Spin" is a song by American alternative rock band Lifehouse from their 2002 album, Stanley Climbfall. It was written by Jason Wade and produced by Ron Aniello. The song received positive reviews from music critics and peaked at #71 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Background
"Spin" is four minutes and 52 seconds long. It was produced by Ron Aniello. Jason Wade, the band's vocalist, wrote the song when he was 16.
Release
"Spin" was the first track on Lifehouse's album Stanley Climbfall, which was released on August 17, 2002. It was also the first single from the album.
Critical reception
The song received positive critical reviews. Gene Stout of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer described it as "an anthemic tune with a strong hook and a big guitar sound."Billboard's Chuck Taylor wrote that "'Spin' is a wonderfully constructed rock song with a number of different musical subsections, all of which showcase the potent pipes and song-writing skills of lead singer/guitarist Jason Wade ... Lifehouse has managed to drum up a keen balance between pure, guitar-fueled rock and hook-sodden, creatively executed pop – and this song deserves a lengthy stay on the playlists of both formats."

Lock (water navigation)
A lock is a device used for raising and lowering boats, ships and other watercraft between stretches of water of different levels on river and canal waterways. The distinguishing feature of a lock is a fixed chamber in which the water level can be varied; whereas in a caisson lock, a boat lift, or on a canal inclined plane, it is the chamber itself (usually then called a caisson) that rises and falls.
Locks are used to make a river more easily navigable, or to allow a canal to take a reasonably direct line across land that is not level.
Pound lock
A pound lock is a type of lock that is used almost exclusively nowadays on canals and rivers. A pound lock has a chamber (the pound) with gates at both ends that control the level of water in the pound. In contrast, an earlier design with a single gate was known as a flash lock.
Pound locks were first used in medieval China during the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), having been pioneered by the government official and engineer Qiao Weiyue in 984. They replaced earlier double slipways that had caused trouble and are mentioned by the Chinese polymath Shen Kuo (1031–1095) in his book Dream Pool Essays (published in 1088), and fully described in the Chinese historical text Song Shi (compiled in 1345):
Gate-9
Gate-9 (Greek:Θύρα 9) is a Cypriot fans' group that supports the sports team AC Omonia.
History
Gate 9 was established on the 25th of October in 1992, in Nicosia. The group was seated under the main clock of the Makario Stadium and later at the North stand. Today it is seated at the North stand of the GSP Stadium.
Popularity and Ideology
Omonia is one of the most popular teams in Cyprus. Omonia supporters are traditionally left wing. A 2009 gallop poll estimated that three out of four Omonia fans vote for the Progressive Party of Working People. Gate-9 members are associated with communist beliefs and have been noted for waving banners bearing Che Guevara's portrait, and other communist symbols. The group, besides Nicosia, has fan clubs in Limassol, Larnaka and Paphos.
Violence
The group often engages in violent clashes with members of police or supporters of other teams. In November 2009 the group was involved in clashes with fans of local rivals APOEL FC that resulted in a serious injury of an APOEL fan. A basketball match in January 2012 was interrupted by the group entering the pitch. In March 2012 after a football match the group caused damage to the GSP Stadium and injured 11 policemen. Another football match was interrupted by clashes between the group and Anorthosis Famagusta fans in June 2013. Violent clashes between the group and Anorthosis fans occurred at a volleyball match in March 2014 which resulted in 11 members of the group being arrested. Violent encounters occurred at the coastal city of Larnaca on the 22nd of July, between fans of Jagiellonia Białystok and Cypriots. Jagiellonia would face Omonia the next day for the Europa League qualifications. It was strongly hinted on social media by Gate 9 members that the group was involved in the clashes.
