Sirens (Sublime with Rome album)

Sirens is the second album by rock group Sublime with Rome, which was released on July 17, 2015. It is the first album to include notable drummer Josh Freese following Bud Gaugh's departure in 2011.

"Wherever You Go" was released as the album's first single, reaching No. 17 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.

Reception

Critical

Sirens has been given a Metacritic score of 48, indicating mixed or average reviews. Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone wrote that the album "stirs up the same hey-whatever mix of reggae, hip-hop and punk that made Sublime shirtless charmers 20 years ago", and David Jeffries of AllMusic judged this album "a step up" from their debut album Yours Truly. Garrett Kamps of Billboard magazine on the other hand thought that while "the tunes are competently rendered, but that actually makes them worse: That these guys are selling out shows as what amounts to a cover band is the kind of thing you need to be super-baked to wrap your head around."

Sirens (Ultradrug – Thee Sequel)

Sirens (Ultradrug – Thee Sequel) is a remix album by Psychic TV. Sugar J remixes Godstar '94 (as Stargods) and Burned Out, But Building (as Skreemer), Andrew Weatherall remixes the track United '94 (as Re-United), and Psychic TV as DJ Doktor Megatrip remixes Love - War - Riot (as Sirens). The track Sirens is identical as the Love - War - Riot (Vocoder Mix) from the compilation "Origin Of The Species" Volume Too!, where it is correctly credited. The title references the earlier Psychic TV album Ultradrug.

Y Gwyll

Y Gwyll, known in English by the name Hinterland, is a police detective drama series broadcast on S4C in Welsh. The main character, DCI Tom Mathias, is played by Richard Harrington. On 27 November 2013, a second series was announced by S4C.

A third series of the show began filming in January 2016.

Bilingual version

An English language version, with brief passages of Welsh dialogue, aired on BBC One Wales. When it was aired on the BBC in 2014, it was the first BBC television drama with dialogue in both English and Welsh.

Production

The series reflected the commitment made in April 2013 by the Director of BBC Cymru Wales, Rhodri Talfan Davies, to show more Welsh language life and culture on the mainstream BBC channels.

On a tight budget—taking two and a half years to raise the funds—the total production cost was £4.2 million. The programme makers received £215,000 in repayable business funding from the Welsh Government. The programme was mainly filmed in Aberystwyth and the surrounding Ceredigion region on the west coast of Wales, taking place over a 124 day period in 2013. The show was filmed in both Welsh and English, with the location-based production offices contained within the former Ceredigion Council offices Swyddfa'r Sir, which also acts as the external scene of the show's police station.

Hinterland (album)

Hinterland was the second album released by the musician / DJ, Aim, released in 2002. Much like its predecessor, Cold Water Music, the album was well-received by critics. It spent one week in the UK album charts, at number 47, and remains Aim's only charting album.

Hinterland (Lonelady album)

Hinterland is the second studio album by Manchester solo artist Julie Campbell, known as Lonelady, released in 2015 by Warp.

Background and recording

Campbell drew inspiration for the album from the landscapes of her childhood home in Audenshaw and the tower block she had been living in as an adult. She also drew on the architecture of Manchester. Campbell wrote some of the songs for Hinterland shortly after the release of her previous album, Nerve Up (2010).Hinterland was recorded over a period of 18 months, and was completed a year before it saw release. The album was recorded, mixed and produced by Campbell in her home studio in Manchester, with additional production with Bill Skibbe at Keyclub Recording Co., Michigan. Skibbe added live drums and LinnDrums to the mix.

Reception

At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Hinterland received an average score of 83, based on 12 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Gareth O'Malley, writing for Drowned in Sound, said that the album was "a layered record that reveals more with each listen."AllMusic critic Heather Phares said that "Hinterland's tough, hard-won beauty reveals Campbell coming into her own." Annette Barlow of the Quietus called the album "a masterpiece". In his review for the Line of Best Fit, Chris Todd said that Campbell had "gone and made the finest pop record of 2015 so far." David Welsh of musicOMH said that the album "has to be one of the year's most satisfyingly accomplished long players."
