Singham

Singham (Hindustani pronunciation: [sɪnɡʱəm] "Lion") is a 2011 Indian action film directed by Rohit Shetty, starring Ajay Devgn in the title role alongside Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj as the antagonist. It is a remake of the 2010 Tamil blockbuster Singam featuring Suriya and Anushka Shetty. The film is produced under Reliance Entertainment, which co-produced the original Tamil movie. The theatrical trailer was released with Ready in June 2011.

The film was released in July 2011, and received good reviews worldwide. It became a Blockbuster at the box office, and one of the highest grossing movies of 2011. A sequel titled Singham Returns was released in August 2014.

Plot

Singham opens with an honest police officer in Goa, Rakesh Kadam (Sudhanshu Pandey), committing suicide because of false accusations of corruption by Jaikant Shikre (Prakash Raj), a don and politician in Goa running a kidnapping racket. Kadam's wife Megha Kadam (Sonali Kulkarni) vows revenge.

The story moves to Shivgarh, a small village near the Goa-Maharashtra border. Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan), an honest Maratha police inspector like Kadam, is in charge of the Shivgarh police station. He resolves most of the problems in his town informally and without filing charge sheets, thereby gaining much reputation and love from the villagers. Gautam Bhosle ("Gotya," Sachin Khedekar) is an industrialist and a friend of Singham’s father Manikrao Singham (Govind Namdeo). He comes to Shivgarh with his wife and daughter Kavya (Kajal Aggarwal). Eventually Singham and Kavya fall in love with each other. Their courtship takes place through a series of comic events where she initially hates him and then has a change of heart when she sees his honest and simple nature.

Singam

Singam (English: Lion) is a 2010 Indian Tamil action masala film directed by Hari, starring Suriya and Anushka Shetty in the lead. The film, produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja in association with Reliance Big Pictures, and distributed by Sun Pictures, was released on 28 May 2010. Upon release, the film was dubbed into Telugu and released as Yamudu and into Hindi as The Fighterman Singham. The film's success led to remakes in Kannada as Kempe Gowda, in Hindi as Singham, and in Bengali as Shotru. The sequel, Singam II, which released in July 2013, was a big commercial success as well.Singam III is expected to be released in 2016.

Plot

Durai Singam (Suriya), is the honest police sub-inspector of Nallur, a small village in Thoothukudi district in southern Tamil Nadu, assisted by his bumbling colleague Erimalai (Vivek). He belongs to Nallur with his father (Radha Ravi) having a respectable status in the village. His family business is provision stores and Duraisingam wants to join it, but he joined police due to his father's wishes. He resolves most of the problems in his village with non-violence and mutual counselling. He uses force only when the situation demands it, thereby gaining much reputation and love from the villagers. Mahalingam (Nassar), an industrialist in Chennai and a friend of Singam's father, comes to the village with his daughter Kavya (Anushka Shetty). Eventually Singam and Kavya fall in love with each other.

Singham Returns

Singham Returns is a 2014 Indian action film directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Reliance Entertainment. A sequel to the 2011 film Singham, actor Ajay Devgan reprises his role from the previous film, as well as co-producing the project, while Kareena Kapoor Khan plays the female lead thus replacing Kajal Aggarwal. The film was also simultaneously made in Marathi. The film was released worldwide on 15 August 2014.

Plot

Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan) gets transferred to Mumbai and he discovers that one of his team members (Mahesh) is found dead with large bags of money. Bajirao decides to unearth the truth behind it and in this process, he collides with a powerful god-man, Satyaraj Chandar a.k.a. Babaji (Amole Gupte) who has high profile connections with politicians.

During this period, Guruji (Anupam Kher), is killed by Babaji, even though Singham was present at the scene. He vows revenge. Because of this, he has to pretend that he has resigned in front of his family. Due to this his father asks him and his childhood friend, Avni (Kareena Kapoor Khan), to come to their home town, Shivgargh. After some comic scenes, Singham and Avni, fall in love with each other. However, it is then revealed that Singham hasn't resigned and came to Shivgargh on a mission to get some proof against Babaji.
