Sin Cara

Sin Cara is a professional wrestling character used by WWE and is a former NXT Tag Team Champion. Originally used by Mexican lucha libre star Luis Urive, it is currently used by Mexican-American wrestler Jorge Arias. Spanish for "Without Face" or "Faceless", Sin Cara wears a lucha-style mask that completely covers his face, much like when Urive wrestled for the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) as Místico. This is in stark contrast to other lucha stars who would at least have eye sockets and a mouth area open, such as when Arias wrestled for the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) as Incognito, as well as Rey Mysterio, with whom the Sin Cara character has had an on-off alliance during his WWE stint. Additionally, the lights at ringside dim to a yellow shade during the Sin Cara character's matches. While the Sin Cara character always speaks Spanish, whether or not the character also speaks English has varied based on whoever portrays the Sin Cara character. Arias's portrayal of Sin Cara is bilingual due to Jorge Arias having grown up in the United States near the Mexico–United States border, and thus speaks either Spanish or English, depending on the intended audience. However, Urive (legitimately) does not know English, and during his time in WWE often required a translator during promos.

Místico

Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde (born December 22, 1982) is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler. He is currently signed to lucha libre promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Carístico, where since 2006 he was the main técnico (face/storyline hero) in CMLL and the biggest box office draw in all of Mexico. Místico is Spanish for "Mystic", a religious ring character who is the storyline protégé of the wrestling priest Fray Tormenta. From March 2011 to October 2013, Urive was signed to WWE, where he worked under the ring name Sin Cara (Spanish for "Without Face" or "Faceless"). After his release from WWE, Urive continued using the Sin Cara ring name while working for Mexican independent promotions and WWL, before signing with Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in February 2014, adopting the new ring name Myzteziz. He left AAA in October 2015, after which he adopted the new ring name Carístico.

Urive is the son of Manuel Almanza, who wrestled under the ring name "Dr. Karonte", the brother of wrestlers Astro Boy, Argos, Argenis and Mini Murder Clown, the cousin of wrestler Magnus and the nephew of CMLL booker Tony Salazar.

Hunico

Jorge Arias (born August 5, 1977) is a Mexican-American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE where he portrays the Sin Cara character, which means "faceless" or "Without Face" in Spanish. He is currently teamed with Kalisto as part of The Lucha Dragons. He was formerly known as Hunico in WWE.

Before signing with WWE, Arias wrestled under the ring name Incognito under which he had worked for professional wrestling promotions such as Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in Mexico and Chikara in the United States. He is the second wrestler to use the name Sin Cara in WWE as the first was Mexican born star Místico (Luis Urive).

Professional wrestling career

Born to Mexican immigrant parents in El Paso, Texas, Arias began wrestling in Burges High School where he was an accomplished state champion multiple times. He then embarked onto a professional career, as he managed to continue working for his family's funeral home and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico in the early 2000s under the ring name "Mistico". This masked ring persona may or may not have preceded the debut of Místico (Luis Urive) in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) around the same time period, but CMLL won the legal rights to the name "Místico" some time in 2005, forcing Arias to change his name to "Mystico" or "Mistico de Juarez". On February 2, 2004 he defeated Nicho El Millonario to win the WWA Middleweight Championship but was stripped of the title in March when he had to stop wrestling in the Tijuana, Baja California area where the World Wrestling Association was based.
