Simple Verse

Simple Verse (foaled 5 March 2012) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a juvenile, the filly quickly established herself as a top-class stayer by winning the St Leger Stakes. The previous filly to win the St Leger Stakes was User Friendly in 1992.

Simple Verse was bred by the Barronstown Stud and foaled in Ireland on 5 March 2012.

Racing career

2015: three-year-old season

Simple Verse began her racing career in a ten furlong maiden race on the synthetic Polytrack surface at Lingfield Park Racecourse in February and finished unplaced behind Atwix. She finished third in a similar event at Kempton Park Racecourse in March before recording her first success in a maiden at Lingfield on 8 April. Her debut on turf came in May when she carried 114 pounds in a handicap race at Goodwood Racecourse and finished second behind the odds-on favourite Endless Time. In June the filly carried 125 pounds and started a 14/1 outsider for a handicap at Salisbury Racecourse and won by a short head from the Mark Johnston-trained Polarisation. The filly was then moved up in class and distance to contest the Group Three Lillie Langtry Stakes over fourteen furlongs at Goodwood on 30 July. Starting at odds of 11/1 in a fourteen runner field she took the lead a furlong out and won by one and a half lengths from Hidden Gold.

Simple (abstract algebra)

In mathematics, the term simple is used to describe an algebraic structure which in some sense cannot be divided by a smaller structure of the same type. The term is used differently in semigroup theory. A semigroup is said to be simple if it has no nontrivial ideals, or equivalently, if Green's relation J is the universal relation. Not every congruence on a semigroup is associated with an ideal, so a simple semigroup may have nontrivial congruences. A semigroup with no nontrivial congruences is called congruence simple.

Passion (Kreesha Turner album)

Passion is the first album by the Canadian singer Kreesha Turner. It was released on August 12, 2008, in Canada and was released in early 2009 in the United States.Passion had been available for advanced streaming on MuchMusic.com. a week earlier.Passion was released in the US in early 2009.

In early August, 2008, the album was leaked onto MTV Canada's The Leak on its official website.

Initially, on the back of the album, track 14 was listed as the "Bounce With Me (Rhythm Mix)" but this was an error and the track is actually the "Don't Call Me Baby (Rhythm Mix)". This error on the back cover was corrected on later pressings of the album.

Although Turner originally signed in the US to Virgin Records, a Capitol Music Group label, her first American release will instead be shifted to the Capitol Records imprint, also within the Capitol Music Group umbrella. This will keep a consistency with her Canadian releases under EMI Music Canada which utilize the Capitol Records imprint and are copyrighted by Capitol Records, LLC.

Simple is an American direct bank based in Portland, Oregon. The company provides FDIC-insured checking accounts through a partnership with The Bancorp and is part of the STAR network for surcharge-free access to around 55,000 ATMs. Since 2014, Simple has been part of the BBVA Group, one of the largest banks in Europe.

History

What was initially known as BankSimple was founded in 2009 in Brooklyn by former CTO Alex Payne, CEO Joshua Reich and CFO Shamir Karkal. In August 2011, the company raised $10 million from investors led by IA Ventures, Shasta Ventures and Dave McClure's fund 500 Startups. Later that month, the company moved its headquarters to Portland, where five of the company's 17 employees already resided.

The company launched in the summer of 2012 as a limited beta.

By January 2013, the company had 20,000 customers and had processed more than $200 million in transactions. By July 2013, its customers had increased to 40,000 and total transaction values increased to greater than $1 billion. At year's end in 2013, Simple reported processing on average around 13 debit transactions per minute with an overall customer balance of $64 million.

Interscope Records

Interscope Records is an American record label. It is a division of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose parent company is the Universal Music Group, a subsidiary of Vivendi S.A.

Interscope was founded in 1989 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Time Warner's Atlantic Records. At the time, it differed from most record companies by giving decision-making authority to its A&R staff, and allowing artists and producers complete creative control. It had its first hit records less than a year after it was founded and achieved profitability in 1993.

In 1992, Interscope acquired the exclusive rights to market and distribute the hardcore rap label Death Row. Albums by Death Row artists including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Doggy Dogg were at the center of the mid-'90s gangsta rap controversy, and as a result, Time Warner severed ties with Interscope by selling its 50 percent stake back to Field and Iovine for $115 million in 1995. In 1996, 50% of the label was acquired by the MCA Music Entertainment Group for a reported $200 million.

Chapters and verses of the Bible

The Bible is a compilation of many shorter books written at different times by a variety of authors, and later assembled into the biblical canon. All but the shortest of these books have been divided into chapters, generally a page or so in length, since the early 13th century. Since the mid-16th century, each chapter has been further divided into "verses" of a few short lines or sentences. Sometimes a sentence spans more than one verse, as in the case of Ephesians 2:8–9, and sometimes there is more than one sentence in a single verse, as in the case of Genesis 1:2. As the chapter and verse divisions were not part of the original texts, they form part of the paratext of the Bible.

The Jewish divisions of the Hebrew text differ at various points from those used by Christians. For instance, in Jewish tradition, the ascriptions to many Psalms are regarded as independent verses or parts of the subsequent verses, making 116 more verses, whereas the established Christian practice is to treat each Psalm ascription as independent and unnumbered. Some chapter divisions also occur in different places, e.g. 1 Chronicles 5:27–41 in Hebrew Bibles is numbered as 1 Chronicles 6:1–15 in Christian translations.
