Sime Darby

Sime Darby Berhad (MYX: 4197) is a major Malaysia-based multinational conglomerate involved in 5 core sectors: plantations, property, industrial, motors and energy & utilities. Sime Darby is listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. It has vested interests and close relationships with the Malaysian government. It has assisted the Malaysian government by buying the management of the Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB) (made loss in 1987). Sime Darby turned the financial situation and sold it to government owned Sarawak Plantation Services.

The modern Sime Darby Berhad corporation was created in 2007 through a merger of three companies.

Sime, Darby and Co. Limited

In October 1910, British businessmen William Sime and Henry Darby established Sime, Darby and Co., a fledgling player in the lucrative rubber industry. The company later diversified to cultivating palm oil and cocoa and met with enormous success. At the time of the company's founding, William Middleton Sime was a 37-year-old Scottish adventurer and fortune seeker. He had two failed ventures behind him – one in import-export business and the other in coffee plantations – when he left his job as a mercantile assistant in Singapore. Henry Darby was a wealthy 50-year-old English banker who owned property in Northern Malaya.

Sime Darby Football Club is a football club from Malaysia which represents and are backed by Sime Darby Berhad, one of Malaysia's largest conglomerates. The team currently compete in the 2016 Malaysia Premier League after finished 12th in 2015 Malaysia Super League .

Sime Darby FC was formed on 22 January 2010, and is backed by the Sime Darby Group, Malaysia's largest multinational conglomerates. The team was officially launched on 4 March 2010 and currently plays its home games at the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang Stadium.

Sime Darby FC most recently competed and finished 5th in the 2014 Malaysia Super League after securing second place in the 2013 Malaysia Premier League.

Sime Darby FC finished undefeated champions of the 2010 Malaysia FAM Cup in its debut season 2010, clinching promotion to the Malaysia Premier League, the second tier professional football league in Malaysia.

APOEL FC

APOEL FC (Greek: ΑΠΟΕΛ; short for Αθλητικός Ποδοσφαιρικός Όμιλος Ελλήνων Λευκωσίας, Athletikos Podosferikos Omilos Ellinon Lefkosias, "Athletic Football Club of Greeks of Nicosia") is a professional football club based in Nicosia, Cyprus. APOEL is the most popular football team in Cyprus and they are the most successful with an overall tally of 24 championships, 21 cups and 13 super cups.

APOEL's greatest moment in the European competitions occurred in the season 2011–12, when the club participated in the group stages of the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League (along with F.C. Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk and Zenit St. Petersburg) and achieved qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition by topping the group and eliminating Olympique Lyonnais in the last 16, becoming the only Cypriot club to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. APOEL's European competitions highlights include also appearances in the group stages of the 2009–10 & 2014–15 UEFA Champions League and the group stages of the 2013–14 & 2015–16 UEFA Europa League. F&C Asset Management Plc is an asset management company and is part of BMO Global Asset Management.

History

The Company was founded in 1972 as the manager of the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust under the name F&C Management Limited.

In 1985 the Company started managing third party funds. In 1989 the Company established a partnership with Germany’s HypoVereinsbank who acquired a 50% stake in the business; this stake was increased to 90% in 1998. In 2000 Eureko purchased HypoVereinsbank’s 90% stake and in 2001 went on to secure 100% control and consolidate their asset management activities with those of the Company under the F&C brand.

In 2004 ISIS Asset Management merged with F&C Management Limited to form F&C Asset Management and the combined business was then listed on the London Stock Exchange.

In 2008 Friends Provident announced its intention to divest its shareholding in F&C Asset Management. This was completed in 2009.

On 7 May 2014, F&C Asset Management plc was acquired by Bank of Montreal through its wholly owned subsidiary, BMO Global Asset Management (Europe) Limited.
