Silent Morning

"Silent Morning" is the debut single of freestyle singer Noel, from his self-titled debut album, released in 1987. It is the most successful single released by Noel to date, where on November 14, 1987, it reached number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the US.

History

The song came about after Noel was discovered by a man looking for singers. The man invited Noel to go into the studio to record a song. While in the studio, and with Noel having never written a song, the man gave advice for Noel to write about what he was feeling. The song that Noel recorded was originally called "Spanish Morning", which had the same melody as "Silent Morning", but with different lyrics. After a few weeks of recording, the man disappeared. At that time, Noel worked as assistant bartender at a club, just to discover that his boss was a man of good contacts, who knew artists like David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Noel decided to record a demo and handed it to his boss. Some weeks later Noel's boss said he had shown the song to the manager of a label, and that he liked the song but not the lyrics, and asked that Noel change all the lyrics. Noel rewrote the song, now called "Silent Morning".

Gerald said he chose "Silent" to be his first single because "the song's subject matter is one which is rarely touched on in hip-hop."

Featuring creepy, fantasy elements on the beat, followed by some heavy synths and soft drums. Walker's sing-song flow about keeping an encounter on the hush, is not only classy but praise-worthy as well."

Directed by Da Visionaryz, the music video was shot in the third week of November, 2010. It was shot in Chicago, Illinois, Gerald Walker's hometown and is expected to be released in December 2010

In the broadcasting industry, a dark or silent radio or television station is one that has gone off-the-air for an indefinite period of time. Unlike dead air (broadcasting only silence), a station that is dark does not even transmit a carrier signal.

According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a radio or television station is considered to have gone dark or silent if it is to be off the air for 30 days or longer. Prior to the Telecommunications Act of 1996, a "dark" station was required to surrender its broadcast license to the FCC, leaving it vulnerable to another party applying for it while its current owner was making efforts to get it back on the air. Following the 1996 landmark legislation, a licensee is no longer required to surrender the license while dark. Instead, the licensee may apply for a "Notification of Suspension of Operations/Request for Silent STA" (FCC Form 0386), stating the reason why the station has gone silent.

Morning

Morning is the period of time between midnight and noon or, more commonly, the interval between sunrise and noon. Morning precedes afternoon, evening, and night in the sequence of a day. Originally, the term referred to sunrise.

Etymology

The name (which comes from the Middle English word morwening) was formed from the analogy of evening using the word "morn" (in Middle English morwen), and originally meant the coming of the sunrise as evening meant the beginning of the close of the day. The Middle English morwen dropped over time and became morwe, then eventually morrow, which properly means "morning", but was soon used to refer to the following day (i.e., "tomorrow"), as in other Germanic languages—English is unique in restricting the word to the newer usage. The Spanish word "mañana" has two meanings in English: "morning," and "tomorrow," along with the word "morgen" in Dutch and German which also means both "morning," and "tomorrow." Max Weber, (General Economic History, pp23) states that the English word "morning" and the German word "Morgen" both signify the size of land strip "which an ox could plow in a day without giving out". "Tagwerk" in German, and "a day's work" in English mean the same. A Good morning in this sense might mean a good day's plow.

Picture This is the sixth studio album by Wet Wet Wet. It was released on 10 April 1995. Its six offspring singles were "Love Is All Around", "Julia Says", "Don't Want to Forgive Me Now", "Somewhere Somehow", "She's All on My Mind" and "Morning". The album reached #1 in the UK chart.
