Sidhi district

Sidhi district is one of the districts of Madhya Pradesh state of India. The town of Sidhi is the district headquarters. The district is part of Rewa Division.

History

Sidhi is a part of Madhya Pradesh, an image of proud history and culture. It forms the northeastern boundary of the state. Sidhi is well known for its natural beauty, historical importance and rich cultural roots. Sidhi possesses abundant natural resources with the river Sone draining the district, and with coal deposits which feed major industries across the country.

Divisions

Sidhi district comprises six tehsils: Gopad Banas, Churhat, Rampur Naikin, Majhauli, Kusmi and patpara Sihawal. There are four Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district, namely, Churhat, Sidhi, Sihawal and Dhauhani. All of these are part of Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency.

Economy

The Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station supplies electricity over a wide area. On one side the spectrum of its floristic socio-cultural diversity and ethnic history of tribal, the district has a panoramic view of the Kaimur, Kehejua and Ranimunda hills blazing with flowers of flame of forest and intoxicated by the sweet smell of mahua flowers. The whole of sidhi district was part of Rewa state.

Sidhi

Sidhi is a city and a municipality in Sidhi district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the headquarters of the Sidhi district.

Geography

Sidhi is located at 24°25′N 81°53′E / 24.42°N 81.88°E / 24.42; 81.88. It has an average elevation of 272 metres (892 feet). It is a state of Chandela Rajput who came from Delhi. They mainly live in Bardi State and then again divide into a few areas in Sidhi.

Sidhi (Lok Sabha constituency)

Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency (Hindi: सीधी लोक सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is one of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh state in central India. This constituency covers the entire Sidhi and Siangrauli districts and part of Shahdol district.

Sidhi (film)

Sidhi is a 1999 Filipino film based on Rolando Tinio's Palanca-winning teleplay (Ang Kwento ni Ah) expanded into a movie script by Ricky Lee, Sidhi is the story of Ah (Aunor), so called because she's mute and can only utter the first syllable of her name Anna.

The film won for Mercado all the Best Supporting Actress Awards given by the four annual award-giving bodies in the Philippines that time. The film also gave a posthumous award to Rolando Tinio for Best story at the FAMAS Awards.

Synopsis

Ana (Nora Aunor), is a mute woman living in a remote mountain area with father, Badong (Ray Ventura). Badong is sick and is searching for a man that will marry his daughter. He finds Michael (Albert Martinez), a man who expresses interest to wed Anna, because of the land he could inherit from her father. In the absence of her traveling husband, Ah meets Mayang (Glydel Mercado), with whom she forms a great friendship. Soon, Ana discovers that Mayang is also married to Michael. Angered at first, Ah cozies up to the scandalous cohabitation, even setting up three scarecrows in the field to represent her ideal household. She even has herself crucified on Good Friday to atone for her sin of accommodation.
