Shy Boy

"Shy Boy" is a song recorded by English girl group Bananarama. It appears on their 1983 debut album Deep Sea Skiving and was released as its second single. It was written and produced by the production team of Steve Jolley and Tony Swain and marked the first in a long line of studio collaborations between them and Bananarama.

The song is rumoured to be a tribute to teenaged London pirate radio comedian Mark Gould whom Bananarama subsequently demanded as their Christmas present for 1983 on the Christmas edition of BBC1's Show Business programme, which was broadcast on 16 December 1983.

Released in summer 1982, "Shy Boy" became the third consecutive single by Bananarama to hit the top-five, reaching number four in the UK singles chart. It also was a success in Australia, where it reached number two, becoming their first top 40 hit in that country. Top-ten success also followed in New Zealand and Canada. "Shy Boy" charted well on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart and was the first of Bananarama's singles to dent the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number eighty-three. The song was known as "Shy Boy (Don't it make you feel good)" in the USA.

Shy Boy (Secret song)

"Shy Boy" (Korean: 샤이보이) is a single by South Korean girl group Secret. It is released as a CD single on January 6, 2011 through TS Entertainment. The song was written and produced by Kang Jiwon and Kim Kibum. It was remade with Japanese lyrics and was on Secret's first Japanese EP, Shy Boy. According to Gaon, "Shy Boy" has sold over 2,215,864 digital downloads in South Korea as of December 31, 2011.

Release

Secret released the teaser for their single "Shy Boy" on January 2, 2011. The single was released on music stores and digital music sites on January 6, 2011. The official music video was unveiled on the same day. On January 21, 2011, it was announced that the single album has sold all of the initial shipments. A representative from TS Entertainment said, "The album sales are exceeding our expectations. It’s a shame that we couldn’t provide enough copies to music stores, but we will deliver more supplies as soon as possible."

Promotions

Secret had their comeback performance on M! Countdown on January 6, 2011. The group also performed Shy Boy on various music shows such as Music Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo in January and February 2011.

Secret (Hangul: 시크릿) is a South Korean K-pop girl group formed by TS Entertainment in 2009. It consists of four members and released their first single in 2009; they released a full-length studio album in 2011.

Career

2009–2010: "Magic" and Madonna

The documentary Secret Story which aired on Mnet introduced Secret to the public. The show chronicled the debut process of the members and aired their invitation-only debut showcase, which took place on September 29, 2009. On October 13, 2009, Secret officially debuted with the release of the music video of "I Want You Back", their first single. Two days later, on October 15, 2009, they had their first live stage on M! Countdown. Secret participated in the Master of Study OST with the song "Friends" which was released on January 2010.

On March 31, 2010, Secret revealed the music video for "Magic", the title track of their debut mini album Secret Time. Secret had their comeback performance for "Magic" on M! Countdown on April 8, 2010. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Music Bank K-Chart. The music video quickly reached one million views on video sharing sites such as YouTube and Cyworld, and the "Suspender Dance" which appeared in the video, gained popularity amongst netizens.
