Shoreham was a station on the Wading River Extension on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. This is an abandoned station just east of the intersection of North Country Road & Randall Road, along what is now access for Long Island Power Authority power lines.

History

Shoreham Station was originally built in 1900 during the extension of the Port Jefferson Branch to Wading River and was once slated to continue eastward and rejoin the Main Line at either Riverhead or Calverton.

The line east of Port Jefferson was abandoned in 1938 and the station was torn down in 1950. The right-of-way is now owned by the Long Island Power Authority and used for power lines, but there are plans to create a rail trail for bicycling, running, and walking.

Shoreham (UK Parliament constituency)

Shoreham was a parliamentary constituency centred on the town of Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex. It returned one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1974 to 1997.

Before the 1885 general election, the Parliamentary borough of New Shoreham, also known simply as Shoreham, returned two members to the House of Commons.

1974-1983: The Urban Districts of Shoreham-by-Sea and Southwick, the Rural District of Chanctonbury (the civil parishes of Amberley, Ashington, Ashurst, Bramber, Coldwaltham, Henfield, Parham, Pulborough, Shermanbury, Steyning, Storrington, Sullington, Thakenham, Upper Beeding, Washington, West Chiltington, Wiston, and Woodmancote), and in the Rural District of Worthing the civil parishes of Coombes, Findon, Houghton, Lancing, and Sompting.

1983-1997: The District of Adur, and the District of Arun wards of Angmering, East Preston and Kingston, Ferring, Findon, Rustington East, and Rustington West.
