Shoot (advertising magazine)

Shoot (stylized SHOOT) is a trade magazine for the advertising industry that was established in 1990 as BackStage/Shoot, providing news and information about advertising agencies, executives, and creative advertising professionals. It also issues awards each year recognizing various elements of advertising, such as a "New Directors Showcase", and "Best Work You May Never See".

History

The magazine was established in December 1960 under the title Back Stage, in a newspaper format covering theatre and commercial production. The owners were Ira Eaker and Allen Zwerdling. In the late 1980s, they sold the paper to British Phonographic Industry and the newspaper was split into two in the summer of 1990. On July 6, 1990, the portion known as Back Stage Shoot was spun off into a full, standalone publication, BackStage/Shoot. The concept was to have the original Back Stage publication concentrate on actors, performing artists, and theatre, while Shoot would continue to "serve the news and information needs of creative and production decision-makers at ad agencies, and executives & artisans in the production industry". To emphasize the change, the official Back Stage tagline, "The complete service weekly for the communications and entertainment industry"? was switched to "The Performing Arts Weekly." In 1994, BackStage/Shoot was renamed simply SHOOT.

Shoot (film)

Shoot is a 1976 American and Canadian film directed by Harvey Hart and written by Richard Berg, based on the novel of the same name by Douglas Fairbairn. The production features Cliff Robertson, Ernest Borgnine, Henry Silva and James Blendick.

The film tells of Rex (Cliff Robertson), a gun enthusiast and military veteran who, with his buddies Lou (Ernest Borgnine) and Zeke (Henry Silva), go hunting in the forest.

Plot

After a frustrating day of hunting in Canada that has left a group of combat veterans empty-handed, their hunting party comes to a river. Another band of hunters appears on the other side, and stares them down.

Suddenly a gun goes off, and Zeke retaliates by shooting and killing one of the men on the other riverbank. After an exchange of gunfire, Major Rex and his friends win the skirmish, driving the other group off.

Deciding to keep the incident a secret from the police, they round up a posse of friends and pursue the other hunters through the woods in a bloody mini-war that only Lou questions.

Rock-paper-scissors

Rock-paper-scissors is a zero-sum hand game usually played between two people, in which each player simultaneously forms one of three shapes with an outstretched hand. These shapes are "rock" (a simple fist), "paper" (a flat hand), and "scissors" (a fist with the index and middle fingers together forming a V). The game has only three possible outcomes other than a tie: a player who decides to play rock will beat another player who has chosen scissors ("rock crushes scissors") but will lose to one who has played paper ("paper covers rock"); a play of paper will lose to a play of scissors ("scissors cut paper"). If both players throw the same shape, the game is tied and is usually immediately replayed to break the tie. Other names for the game in the English-speaking world include roshambo and other orderings of the three items, sometimes with "rock" being called "stone".

The game is often used as a choosing method in a way similar to coin flipping, drawing straws, or throwing dice. Unlike truly random selection methods, however, rock-paper-scissors can be played with a degree of skill by recognizing and exploiting non-random behavior in opponents.

The Group was founded with name "A due Carmen" in 2005 by Okan Işık, Aşkın Çolak and Can Temiz. This trio attended Fatma Turgut and Serkan Gürüzümcü in 2007. The group's name was changed to "Model" in 2008. The group's first album name "Perili Sirk" in 2009.

2010 Digital Age Awards - Most Innovative Music / Sound Design winner song composed for Efes Pilsen. The band also won the Billboard Special Jury Award in Roxy Music Days under the name "A due Carmen"

Conceptual model

A conceptual model is a model made of the composition of concepts, which are used to help people know, understand, or simulate a subject the model represents. Some models are physical objects; for example, a toy model which may be assembled, and may be made to work like the object it represents.

The term conceptual model may be used to refer to models which are formed after a conceptualization or generalization process. Conceptual models are often abstractions of things in the real world whether physical or social. Semantics studies are relevant to various stages of concept formation and use as Semantics is basically about concepts, the meaning that thinking beings give to various elements of their experience.

Models of concepts and models that are conceptual

The term conceptual model is normal. It could mean "a model of concept" or it could mean "a model that is conceptual." A distinction can be made between what models are and what models are models of. With the exception of iconic models, such as a scale model of Winchester Cathedral, most models are concepts. But they are, mostly, intended to be models of real world states of affairs. The value of a model is usually directly proportional to how well it corresponds to a past, present, future, actual or potential state of affairs. A model of a concept is quite different because in order to be a good model it need not have this real world correspondence. In artificial intelligence conceptual models and conceptual graphs are used for building expert systems and knowledge-based systems, here the analysts are concerned to represent expert opinion on what is true not their own ideas on what is true.
