    Liner notes

"Thee SIRENS do not sing for me. They scream abuse, they signal rape. Their call is not to love, nor embrace, but a call to arms to destroy a race of those who can still think. A loud and burning issue bursts forth from flaming hole. Sighss and suckles, each moment power, and every cell a soul. An end to mark the start of TIME is only close in mind. Touch everything you can with dreams, and end thee SIRENS crime." (Old TOPI poem)

    Sirens (It Dies Today album)

Sirens is the second full-length studio album released by Buffalo-based metalcore band It Dies Today, released on October 17, 2006. It is the last recorded material with ex-vocalist Nick Brooks. Since his departure, the band's current vocalist, Jason Wood has re-recorded "Sixth of June" and "Through Leaves, Over Bridges". These songs are available on their official Myspace.

Sirens was leaked to Peer-to-Peer file sharing programs on August 15, 2006.

    Track listing

All songs written and composed by Nicholas Brooks and Mike Hatalak.

  • "Sixth of June" is about Aileen Wuornos. In early press and on the leaked version it is referred to as "Damsel of Death". It was featured on the soundtracks of Arena Football: Road to Glory & Resident Evil: Extinction.
  • "Through Leaves, Over Bridges" is about Kurt Vonnegut's "Long Walk to Forever". It imitates the story, but appears to change the ending.
  • "On the Road (To Damnation)" is about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
  • "Sacred Heart" was featured briefly in the film Jennifer's Body.
  • Shock (Beast song)

"Shock" is a song by the South Korean boy group Beast. It's the first single from their second EP "Shock of the New Era" which was released on March 1, 2010 along with the EP. The song introduced a new genre called Rocktronic, which is a combination of rock and electronic music.

A Japanese version was released on March 16, 2011 which serves as their debut single in Japan. It ranked #2 in the Oricon daily and weekly chart with 28,532 copies sold in the first week, beating the debut single of Big Bang's “My Heaven” at no. 3 in 2009.

    Background

In February 2010, Cube Entertainment announced that Beast will be returning into the music scene with a powerful chic black-toned concept, deviating from the image they portrayed from their debut single. "Shock" was originally set for release on March 2, 2010 together with the EP, but was moved back a day earlier because it was leaked on YouTube. Despite the leak, the song was able to enter the Top 10 Chart on different music portals.

    Shock (mechanics)

A mechanical or physical shock is a sudden acceleration caused, for example, by impact, drop, kick, earthquake, or explosion. Shock is a transient physical excitation.

Shock describes matter subject to extreme rates of force wtr to time. Shock is a vector that has units of an acceleration (rate of change of velocity). The unit g (or g) represents multiples of the acceleration of gravity and is conventionally used.

A shock pulse can be characterised by its peak acceleration, the duration, and the shape of the shock pulse (half sine, triangular, trapezoidal, etc.). The Shock response spectrum is a method for further evaluating a mechanical shock.

    Shock measurement

Shock measurement is of interest in several fields such as

  • Propagation of heel shock through a runner’s body
  • Measure the magnitude of a shock need to cause damage to an item: ‘’’fragility’’’.
  • Measure shock attenuation through athletic flooring
  • Measuring the effectiveness of a shock absorber
  • Measuring the shock absorbing ability of package cushioning
