The Bang
The Bang is a South African Indie pop band from Johannesburg, South Africa. The band presently consists of Joshua Gregg (Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Kazoo); Brad Kallenbach (Guitar, Mandolin, Backing Vocals); Gad de Combes (Keyboards, Accordion, Melodica, Harmonica, Backing Vocals); Stefan Lawrence (Drums, Percussion); Barry Sherman (Bass, Backing Vocals)
History
The Bang was formed in 1999 by lead vocalist/guitarist Joshua Gregg and bassist Barry Sherman. The band went through various line-ups, including drummer Danny Girnun, who played drums on the band’s E.P. Of Engines And Earthworms, recorded at Ian Osrin’s Digital Cupboard in November 2001, under the band-name 3Speed
In 2003, local producer Adrian Levi (brother of music video director, Daniel Levi), heard the E.P., and promptly signed the band to his indie label Chameleon Records South Africa (home of the South African band, Max Normal)
The Bang’s debut full-length album, Shiny was recorded over 2004 and 2005, and was released in September 2005.
Kari Wuhrer
Kari Samantha Wuhrer (born April 28, 1967) is an American actress and singer. Wuhrer is best known for her roles as Maggie Beckett in the Sci-fi television series Sliders and as Sheriff Samantha Parker in the Sci-fi comedy film Eight Legged Freaks.
Early life
Wuhrer was born in Brookfield, Connecticut, the daughter of Karin (née Noble), a payroll accountant, and German American Andrew Wührer, a police officer and car salesman. She has three siblings. As a teenager, she sang in nightclubs, sneaking out of the family home to perform. She studied acting from the age of 13 at the Wooster School. She studied drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, Columbia University, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts with famed teacher Uta Hagen.
Career
Wuhrer's first television break was MTV's Remote Control (1987). She was a regular cast member of the television series Swamp Thing from 1991 to 1992. She also worked as a VJ on MTV during the same period. In 1993, she was a regular in the TV series Class of '96, where she played college student Robin Farr. From 1994 to 1995, she starred as Ariel Hunter in the long-running prime-time soap opera Beverly Hills, 90210.
