Mr. Big is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1988. The band is a quartet composed of Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass guitar), and Pat Torpey (drums); The band is noted especially for their musicianship, and scored a number of hits. Their songs were often marked by strong vocals and vocal harmonies. Their hits include "To Be with You" (a number one single in 15 countries in 1992) and "Just Take My Heart".

Mr. Big have remained active and popular for over two decades, despite internal conflicts and changing music trends. They broke up in 2002, but after requests from fans, they reunited in 2009; their first tour was in Japan, in June 2009. To date, Mr. Big has released eight studio albums, the latest being ...The Stories We Could Tell (2014).

The band takes its name from the song by Free, which was eventually covered by the band on their 1993 album, Bump Ahead.

Shine (Mike Oldfield song)

"Shine" is a single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1986 (see 1986 in music). "Shine" features Jon Anderson on vocals.

Music video

The music video for "Shine" features use of computer graphics, such as a computer generated game of chess. Oldfield plays a Gibson SG guitar in the video. The video is available on the Elements - The Best of Mike Oldfield DVD.

Shine (Trey Anastasio song)

"Shine" is a song by American musician Trey Anastasio. It was released on October 11, 2005 as a single from the album of the same name. Credited to both Trey Anastasio and Brendan O'Brien, it was recorded in mid-2005 at the Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Anastasio admits that "Shine" was written after all of the other tracks on the album, as a way to "tie it all together." It was debuted live on July 24, 2005, at the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Crystal is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 22,151 at the 2010 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.88 square miles (15.23 km²), of which 5.78 square miles (14.97 km²) is land and 0.10 square miles (0.26 km²) is water.

Minnesota State Highway 100 and County Road 81 are two of the main routes in the city. Other routes include Douglas Drive North, 36th Avenue North, 42nd Avenue North, and Bass Lake Road.

Crystal Airport, a small general aviation field, is located within the city limits.

The city is bordered on the north by the city of Brooklyn Park, on the northeast by Brooklyn Center, on the east by Robbinsdale, on the south by Golden Valley, and on the west by New Hope.

Crystal has been awarded the "Minnesota Star City" designation for economic development.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 22,151 people, 9,183 households, and 5,640 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,832.4 inhabitants per square mile (1,479.7/km²). There were 9,634 housing units at an average density of 1,666.8 per square mile (643.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 78.1% White, 10.5% African American, 0.7% Native American, 3.9% Asian, 3.0% from other races, and 3.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.5% of the population.

Crystal is an album by American jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal featuring performances recorded in 1987 and released on the Atlantic label.

Reception

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "There are some magical moments on this quartet set... Jamal's control of dynamics and inventive use of space proved to be as effective as it had been when he first made his mark in the 1950s, although his chord voicings and general style had evolved. Jamal and his group perform ten of his originals with taste, swing and subtle surprises".

Crystal (comics)

Crystal (Crystalia Amaquelin) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Crystal first appeared in Fantastic Four #45 (December 1965) and was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby.

Within the Marvel Universe, Crystal is a member of a fictional subspecies of humanity known as Inhumans, who develop superhuman abilities when exposed to Terrigen Mist due to genetic modifications made by the Kree. The character possesses the ability to psionically control the four classical elements: earth, fire, air, and water and, by extension, various other natural materials and phenomena such as metals and electricity. Crystal was the first character to be identified as an Inhuman, and is one of the most prominent Inhuman characters. Crystal is a princess of the Inhuman Royal Family and sister of Medusa, Queen of the Inhumans. She often appears with her canine companion, Lockjaw.

The character has regularly appeared as a main character in several comic book titles, including various incarnations of Inhumans as well as Fantastic Four and Avengers. The character is unique in her affiliation with all three of these groups. She is also associated, to a lesser extent, with the X-Men due to the character's previous marriage to Quicksilver, which resulted in their daughter, Luna. Crystal has also appeared in various other Marvel media such as television series and video games, as well as merchandise such as trading cards and action figures.
