Mr. Big is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1988. The band is a quartet composed of Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass guitar), and Pat Torpey (drums); The band is noted especially for their musicianship, and scored a number of hits. Their songs were often marked by strong vocals and vocal harmonies. Their hits include "To Be with You" (a number one single in 15 countries in 1992) and "Just Take My Heart".

Mr. Big have remained active and popular for over two decades, despite internal conflicts and changing music trends. They broke up in 2002, but after requests from fans, they reunited in 2009; their first tour was in Japan, in June 2009. To date, Mr. Big has released eight studio albums, the latest being ...The Stories We Could Tell (2014).

The band takes its name from the song by Free, which was eventually covered by the band on their 1993 album, Bump Ahead.

Shine (Mike Oldfield song)

"Shine" is a single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1986 (see 1986 in music). "Shine" features Jon Anderson on vocals.

Music video

The music video for "Shine" features use of computer graphics, such as a computer generated game of chess. Oldfield plays a Gibson SG guitar in the video. The video is available on the Elements - The Best of Mike Oldfield DVD.

Shine (Trey Anastasio song)

"Shine" is a song by American musician Trey Anastasio. It was released on October 11, 2005 as a single from the album of the same name. Credited to both Trey Anastasio and Brendan O'Brien, it was recorded in mid-2005 at the Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Anastasio admits that "Shine" was written after all of the other tracks on the album, as a way to "tie it all together." It was debuted live on July 24, 2005, at the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Tide (brand)

Tide (Alo, Vizir or Ace in some countries) is the brand-name of a laundry detergent manufactured by Procter & Gamble, first introduced in 1946.

Background

The household chore of doing the laundry began to change with the introduction of washing powders in the 1880s. These new laundry products originally were simply pulverized soap. New cleaning-product marketing successes, such as the 1890s introduction of the N. K. Fairbank Company's Gold Dust Washing Powder (which used a breakthrough hydrogenation process in its formulation), and Hudson's heavily advertised product, Rinso, proved that there was a ready market for better cleaning agents. Henkel & Cie's "self-activating" (or self bleaching) cleaner, Persil; (introduced in 1907); the early synthetic detergent, BASF's Fewa (introduced in 1932); and Procter & Gamble's 1933 totally synthetic creation, Dreft, (marketed for use on infant-wear)—all indicated significant advances in the laundry cleaning product market.

The detergent business was further revolutionized with the discovery of the alkylbenzene sulfonates, which, when combined with the use of chemical "builders", made machine washing with hard water possible. This presented Procter and Gamble with the opportunity to create a product such as Tide.

Ace (baseball)

In baseball, an ace is the best starting pitcher on a team and nearly always the first pitcher in the team's starting rotation. Barring injury or exceptional circumstances, an ace typically starts on Opening Day. In addition, aces are usually preferred to start crucial playoff games, sometimes on three days rest.

The term may be a derivation of the nickname of Asa Brainard, (real first name: "Asahel"), a 19th-century star pitcher, who was sometimes referred to as "Ace".

In the early days of baseball, the term "ace" was used to refer to a run.

A lot of modern baseball analysts and fans have started using the term "ace" to refer to the elite pitchers in the game, not necessarily to the best starting pitcher on each team. For example, the April 27, 1981 Sports Illustrated cover was captioned "The Amazing A's and Their Five Aces" to describe the starting rotation of the 1981 Oakland Athletics.

Royal Flush Gang

The Royal Flush Gang or RFG are fictional characters in DC Comics. They first appeared in Justice League of America #43 in March 1966 under the leadership of Professor Amos Fortune.

Fictional team history

They are a group of playing card-themed supervillains who are usually thwarted by the superheroes they encounter. Their code names based on a royal flush in poker: King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Ace.

First Gang: Clubs

The original Royal Flush Gang was Professor Amos Fortune's childhood gang. With Fortune himself as Ace, they fought the Justice League on two occasions, using Fortune's luck-altering "stellaration" technology to realize the fortune-telling significance of playing cards. After Fortune abandoned the Gang, they attempted to steal paintings containing clues to a hidden treasure but were thwarted by the Joker's manipulations. Most of them then abandoned their criminal careers, although Jack briefly joined the Secret Society of Super Villains as "Hi-Jack". Fortune's gang wore costumes based on the suit of clubs. In the pages of JLA Classified, it was revealed the original Royal Flush Gang (sans Amos Fortune) reunited to fight the "Detroit Era" Justice League and their successors in the second gang. In this battle, the original King, Queen and Ten were all killed.
