Shindig! is an American musical variety series which aired on ABC from September 16, 1964 to January 8, 1966. The show was hosted by Jimmy O'Neill, a disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time who also created the show along with his wife Sharon Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz. The original pilot was rejected by ABC and David Sontag, then Executive Producer of ABC, redeveloped and completely redesigned the show. A new pilot with a new cast of artists was shot starring Sam Cooke. That pilot aired as the premiere episode.

    Synopsis

Shindig! was conceived as a short-notice replacement for Hootenanny, a series that had specialized in folk revival music. The folk revival had fizzled in 1964 as the result of the British Invasion, which damaged the ratings for Hootenanny and prompted that show's cancellation.

Shindig! focused on a broader variety of popular music than its predecessor and first aired for a half-hour every Wednesday evening, but was expanded to an hour in January 1965. In the fall of 1965, the show split into two half-hour telecasts, on Thursday and Saturday nights.

    Shindig (video chat platform)

Shindig is a patented technology platform for large scale online video chat events.

Fueled described Shindig as "a new online video chat platform, (which) aims to make talking online more natural by imitating real-life events; users can freely mingle, moving between conversations with the same ease as you might move through a dinner party."

In a Shindig event, participants can use webcams to see each other in a shared space. A featured presenter can give a talk, be interviewed, share a multimedia presentation, give a live performance, teach a course and much more to a live online audience of thousands. Meanwhile, audience members can move freely in and out of private video conversations with whomever they choose, and selected guests can be brought up to "share the stage" and directly interact with hosts "face-to-face" before the entire group. The speaker can also share PDF, MP3, and MP4 multimedia files with the group.

Notable pioneers and institutions who have used the platform include Bill Gates, TED.com, Sheryl Sandberg, Guy Kawasaki, Jim Cramer, Michael Saylor, Forbes, The Chicago Tribune, Random House, Ernst & Young, Simon & Schuster, Folio, Los Angeles Review of Books, Lucky Magazine, TEDx, BookTalk Nation and many more.

    Shindig (Firefly)

"Shindig" is the fourth episode of the science fiction television series Firefly created by Joss Whedon.

Inara attends a formal society dance, only to find Malcolm there as well, attempting to set up a smuggling job. Mal comes to blows with Inara's conceited date and finds himself facing a duel with a renowned swordsman, and only one night to learn how to fence.

    Synopsis

The crew lands on Persephone. In her shuttle quarters, Inara scans potential clients and chooses local aristocrat Atherton Wing, a regular customer. Mal and Jayne are accosted by Badger, who needs Mal's help to move an illegal cargo for high-society local Warrick Harrow, who will not talk to the likes of Badger. He provides Mal and Kaylee with tickets to the very ball that Inara will be attending.

At the ball, Atherton asks Inara to be his personal Companion, remaining in a world more suited to her, but she diplomatically defers a decision. Suddenly, the arrival of "Miss Kaywinnet Lee Frye and escort" is announced--Kaylee, in a ruffled dress she had earlier coveted in a shop window, accompanied by Mal.

    Apache Shindig

Shindig is a framework for web-based applications. It is an open source project which began in December 2007 to provide a reference implementation for the OpenSocial standard. The software contains both server-side and client-side code. Once the project is mature, an installation of this product will be capable of rendering OpenSocial gadgets in a web browser.

    Features

In the announcement for Shindig's first code commit, four primary features of Shindig were cited:

  • Gadget Container JavaScript—core JavaScript foundation for general gadget functionality. This JavaScript manages security, communication, UI layout, and feature extensions, such as the OpenSocial API.
  • Gadget Server—an open source version of gmodules.com, which is used to render the gadget XML into JavaScript and HTML for the container to expose via the container JavaScript.
  • OpenSocial Container JavaScript—JavaScript environment that sits on top of the Gadget Container JavaScript and provides OpenSocial specific functionality (profiles, friends, activities).

So you're saying that it's over and that i am blinded by
    the truth.
How can you still look me in the face after all the
    promises you made?
You know that every word i say is true.
Tell me what you have to say tonight.
Break my heart and hope to die.
After everything you've put me through,
I won't let you let me down again.
Now you're saying that it's all my fault and i'm the only
    one to blame.
How can you get up and walk away without ever saying what
    was wrong?
Tell me what you have to say tonight.
Break my heart and hope to die.
