Shaurya

Shaurya (English: Valor) is a 2008 Indian courtroom drama film directed by Samar Khan, starring Kay Kay Menon, Rahul Bose, Javed Jaffrey and Minissha Lamba. Music in the film is by pop singer, Adnan Sami. Indian actor Shahrukh Khan, is the narrator in this film.

The film revolves around the court-martial of a Muslim officer, Javed Khan, in the Indian army, for shooting his commanding officer and is set against the backdrop of the Kashmir Conflict in Northern India. Major Siddhant Chaudhary (Rahul Bose) is assigned to be Javed Khan's defence lawyer, and the film depicts his investigations in the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Plot

Maj. Siddhant Chaudhary (Rahul Bose) and Maj. Akash Kapoor (Javed Jaffrey) are lawyers in the Indian army and are close friends. They are on opposite sides of a case where a soldier kills his commanding officer. The accused is mysteriously silent and not willing to talk about the incident. Siddhant, who is the defense counsel, is apathetic at first but starts taking a keen interest in the case after meeting Kavya (Minissha Lamba), a journalist who demonstrates that the case is not as simple as it seems. The underlying theme in the movie is Siddhant's gradual understanding of what Shaurya means (his father was himself a decorated army veteran), and the resulting conflict with Brigadier Rudra Pratap Singh (Kay Kay Menon) In the End, It is revealed that Maj. Rathod, while conducting a Search operation in a village, roughed up and killed a villager, and threatened a little girl. Enraged and fearing for the girl Capt. Javed shot him and eventually the movie ends up with a climax.

Shaurya (missile)

The Shaurya missile (Sanskrit: शौर्य : Valour) is a canister launched hypersonic surface-to-surface tactical missile developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for use by the Indian Armed Forces. It has a range of between 750 to 1,900 km (470 to 1,180 mi) and is capable of carrying a payload of one ton conventional or nuclear warhead. It gives the potential to strike in the short-intermediate range against any adversary.

Description

The Shaurya missile is speculated to be the land version of the under-water Sagarika K-15 missile, although DRDO officials have reportedly denied its connection with the K-15 programme Shaurya is stored in a composite canister, which makes it much easier to store for long periods without maintenance as well as to handle and transport. It also houses the gas generator to eject the missile from the canister before its solid propellant motors take over to hurl it at the intended target.
