Shaktimaan

Shaktimaan (Hindi: शक्तिमान) is a fictional Indian superhero from the television series of the same name produced by Mukesh Khanna and directed by Dinkar Jani. Around 400 episodes of the series originally aired on Doordarshan, India's national television network, from 27 September 1997 (barring the introductory episode on 27 September 1997) to 27 March 2005, on Sundays at 12 noon IST. The telecast slot, however was shifted to 9:30 a.m. for the last episodes. It has also aired on Pogo in English, Tarang in Oriya and Chutti TV in Tamil, and repeated its Hindi telecast on STAR Utsav. Mukesh Khanna plays the roles of Shaktimaan, the main protagonist and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a photographer for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz. Shaktimaan is depicted as a human who has attained superhuman strength and power through deep meditation and attaining control over five elements of life. Kitu Gidwani, and later Vaishnavi Mahant plays the role of Geeta Vishwas, a reporter in the series who loves Shaktimaan. Surendra Pal plays the role of Tamraj Kilvish, the main antagonist in the series.

Shaktiman (1993 film)

Shaktiman is 1993 Hindi Movie directed by K.C. Bokadia and starring Ajay Devgn, Karishma Kapoor, Mukesh Khanna, Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Other cast members include Gulshan Grover, Ajit Khan, Parikshat Sahni, Tiku Talsania, Anjana Mumtaz, Beena, and Mahavir Shah.

Plot

Businessman Rai Bahadur Laxmi Narayan lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay along with his wife, Lakshmi. Although they have been married for several years, they have no children. While on a trip to Simla, they get adopt their servant, Diler's son, rename him Vicky, and bring him back home, much to the dismay of Diler's wife, Parvati. Aometime later, Lakshmi gets pregnant and re-visits Simla, meets with an accident and passes away, leaving behind a new-born son, Amar. Diler wants to kill Amar, but Parvati wants to return him to Laxmi Narayan, and runs away to Bombay. Diler informs his employer that both his wife and son have died and have been cremated. Diler re-locates to Bombay, follows her but is unable to locate Parvati. She does reach Bombay along with Amar but she, in turn, is unable to locate Laxmi Narayan. Years later Amar has grown up, lives with Parvati in Versova, works as a Police Inspector in Sion Police Station, and is in love with Priya, the Superintendent of Police's daughter, while Diler is a taxi-driver, and Vicky is an alcoholic and wants to wed Priya. Their lives will soon interline and become complicated with blackmail, deceit, and murder.
