Shake That

"Shake That" (also known as "Shake That Ass") is the second and final single taken from American rapper Eminem's first compilation album, Curtain Call: The Hits (2005), following "When I'm Gone." It is one of three new songs featured on the album.

Song information

The song features Nate Dogg in a prominent vocal role, marking his sixth and final Eminem collaboration, following "Bitch Please II" from The Marshall Mathers LP, "Till I Collapse" from The Eminem Show, and "Never Enough" from Encore, and the two collaborated on Xzibit's "My Name", from the album Man vs. Machine and Lloyd Banks' "Warrior Part 2" on the album The Hunger for More. "Shake That" is the first of these songs to include Nate Dogg during verse, whereas his contributions in the other works are limited to the refrain and the outro. Contrary to many of the second singles from each of Eminem's albums, such as "The Way I Am", "Cleanin' Out My Closet", and "Like Toy Soldiers", which are usually much darker and more stern than their predecessors, "Shake That" is a departure from the serious tone of "When I'm Gone," representing a far more playful atmosphere. It focuses on Eminem and Nate Dogg rapping about seducing women into sex in cars, and strip clubs. The music video is animated, and follows this context from the song. The single was released in early 2006 in the United States. It became a big hit, peaking at #6. In the UK, the song was released as a download only single in April 2006, managing to peak at #28 on the UK Download Chart.

"Shake That" is a song by Australian recording artist, Samantha Jade. The song was written by Jonathan Percy Starker Saxe, Antonio Dixon, Armando Pérez, Khristopher Riddick-Tynes, Carmen Reece, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds & Leon Thomas III. It was released on 17 July 2015, as the lead single from Jade's second studio album, Nine, and debuted at number thirty-two on the Australian ARIA singles chart. The song's accompanying music video was released on the same day via YouTube and Vevo.

Background and promotion

"Shake That" was recorded and mixed in Los Angeles in January 2015. According to Jade, she "heard it at the studio while we were writing something else and I was like, 'We need to pause on this song and I need to record this right now!' It just had this great feel and message, so we got straight to it and now it's my single!"Pitbull was added months later when Jade felt that the song was missing a bridge. She felt that "Pitbull was perfect because of the track feeling like a real ‘him’ sort of song. So we sent it out and hoped to god that he’d say ‘yes’ and he did.” He later recorded the bridge in Miami. Jade's first TV performance of the song was on 26 July 2015, on Australia's Dancing with the Stars. On 30 July 2015, she performed the song on Australian morning shows, Sunrise and The Morning Show. It peaked at number 32 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

"Shake That!" is a song by German band Scooter. It was released in October 2004 as the second single from their tenth studio album Mind The Gap.

Raashaun Casey (born September 3, 1977), known by his professional name DJ Envy, is an American disc jockey (DJ). He is also one of the three hosts of the syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club with Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God and an MTV2 VJ for The Week in Jams.

Career

A native of Queens, New York, DJ Envy was tutored by neighborhood acquaintance DJ Clue?, who introduced him to the mixtape circuit in the mid-1990s. He quickly climbed up the ranks, and by the early 2000 he was peddling the latest freestyles and exclusives for big-name rappers like Jay-Z, 50 Cent and The L.O.X.. Since his reputation was so esteemed, DJ Clue signed him to their affiliate label Desert Storm Records. In 2003, he released his commercial debut album entitled The Desert Storm Mixtape: Blok Party, Vol. 1.

Envy's big break on the radio came when he mixed once a month for Hot 97's show called "Takin' it to the Streets", hosted by Angie Martinez from 12:00 am to 4:00 am, but later filled in when Angie Martinez got pregnant. He then co-hosted Hot 97's morning show with Miss Jones from 6 am-10 am daily. His run on the morning show ended in July 2008 when Miss Jones moved to Philadelphia. Envy spun on his own mixshows on Hot 97 called "The People's Mix" on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and "The People's Choice Hit List" on Sundays 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. He had a segment on Hot 97 titled "New at 2", where he played the newest hits from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. He hosts Hip-Hop Nation's afternoon show on Sirius XM Radio on weekdays 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm EST and on weekends he used to do a show from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Power 105.
