The style is influenced by zouk, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, coupé-décalé, ndombolo and kuduro. In December 2008, they released their second single "Mini Kawoulé".
After forming the duo Les Jumo (a phonetic way of writing Les Jumeaux in French, meaning The Twins), they found fame on the dancefloor in the summer of 2009, mixing lively zouk (coupé-décalé) with dancehall, hip hop, reggaeton and electro influences as well as a beat rhythm influenced by Culture Beat. Also known as Les Jumo Selesao, their greatest success was the single "Zoomer", produced by Junior Caldera and promoted further by a dance music video. They have had collaborations with many dance acts including Jessy Matador, Willy William, Mohombi and others.
Sexy is a novel by Joyce Carol Oates. First published in 2005, it is her fourth book written for young adults. The book's themes of pedophilia, homosexuality, and pre-marital sex as well as its adult language have caused it to be the source of attempts to ban the book from school libraries.
From the book jacket:
Sexy follows the character of Darren Flynn, a sixteen-year-old high school student and swim club member that questions his own sense of self and sexuality. He's attractive but shy, gets average grades, and constantly worries about not meeting others' expectations.
On one rainy night after a training session, Darren's friend leaves early, leaving him without a ride. His teacher, Mr. Tracy, offers to drive him home. Darren is wary of the man, who's gay but in the closet, but he reluctantly gives in. Nothing really happens on the ride home, but Darren still leaves shaken up. Shortly after, Mr. Tracy catches one of Darren's swim team members plagiarizing, gives him a bad grade, and causes that member to be thrown off the team. This prompts that member to start a rumor as revenge, and several other students start to anonymously accuse the teacher of hitting on boys; it ruins the teacher's life. Darren chose not to take part in the accusations but is now torn between his moral objections and his fear of being thought of in the same light.
Dada (/ˈdɑːdɑː/) or Dadaism was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century. Dada in Zürich, Switzerland, began in 1916 at Cabaret Voltaire, spreading to Berlin shortly thereafter, but the height of New York Dada was the year before, in 1915. The term anti-art, a precursor to Dada, was coined by Marcel Duchamp around 1913 when he created his first readymades. Dada, in addition to being anti-war, had political affinities with the radical left and was also anti-bourgeois.
At least two works qualified as pre-Dadaist, a posteriori, had already sensitized the public and artists alike: Ubu Roi (1896) by Alfred Jarry, and the ballet Parade (1916–17) by Erik Satie. The roots of Dada lay in pre-war avant-garde. Cubism and the development of collage, combined with Wassily Kandinsky’s theoretical writings and abstraction, detached the movement from the constraints of reality and convention. The influence of French poets and the writings of German Expressionists liberated Dada from the tight correlation between words and meaning. Avant-garde circles outside France knew of pre-war Parisian developments. They had seen (or participated in) Cubist exhibitions held at Galería Dalmau, Barcelona (1912), Galerie Der Sturm in Berlin (1912), the Armory show in New York (1913), SVU Mánes in Prague (1914), several Jack of Diamonds exhibitions in Moscow and at De Moderne Kunstkring, Amsterdam (between 1911 and 1915). Futurism developed in response to the work of various artists. Dada subsequently combined these approaches.
Dada is a three piece rock band from California (United States). The band is made up of Michael Gurley (guitar/co-lead vocals), Joie Calio (bass/co-lead vocals) and Phil Leavitt (drums).
The band's songs feature both Michael and Joie sharing the vocals on each song. The group write highly melodic, harmony laden tunes, and their constant touring with two and a half to three hour performances has won them a wide fanbase.
1992 saw the release of their debut album Puzzle. First single "Dizz Knee Land" quickly became a staple of radio across the U.S. and reached as far as Australia, where the song and album went on high rotation on national radio station 'Triple J'. "Dizz Knee Land" reached number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, number 5 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and number 27 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart;Puzzle went on to sell more than half a million copies and earned an RIAA Gold Record award. dada toured for the album with bands such as Crowded House and Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds, as well as Sting.
Dada is the self-titled, fourth full-length studio album by alternative rock group dada, and their debut album for MCA Records. In the U.S., it was released on September 8, 1998. dada charted at number 32 on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums chart.
"California Gold" was released as the first single from the album. Later in 1998, "Information Undertow" was distributed to radio stations as a promotional single.
Oh, I'm so excited, think about you all the time
Yes, I can't wait to see you baby
You really best of my mind
You're so fine, wanna hold you all the time
Oh, when, when you touch me baby, tears of joy I'm crying
Oh, and when you hold me chills run up and down my spine
You're so fine, think about you all the time
Yes, I'm so excited, I met peace with the world
Oh, can this love be real? I'm talking about my new, new love
You're so fine baby, wanna love you all the time
Hey, I'm so excited, don't know what you're doing myself
Oh, I'm so happy baby, don't need nobody else
You're so fine baby, think about you all the time
Yes, when I look in your eyes, you put me in a trance
Oh, I just shake all over baby, oh, I feel like I wanna dance
You're so fine baby, wanna hold you all the time
How can this be a dream, can this really happen to me?
Oh, surely loved at last, seems like a fantasy
You're so fine baby, wanna hold you all the time
Oh, I thought I've been in love, so many, many times
Oh, but this new love, has really messed up my mind
You're so fine, think about you all the time
You're so nice and lovin', everything you do is right
I just can't wait, I can't wait baby
Can't wait for you to hold me tight
