Magic (Robin Thicke song)

"Magic" is a song by American R&B singer Robin Thicke. The song was produced in 2008 for Thicke's third studio album, Something Else. Its live instrumentation varied; including conga, horn and violin. The song's lyrics refer to a someone reversing their lovers past hurts in relationships. The song was written by him along with his wife Paula Patton and James Gass. The track was sent to radio on May 20, 2008 and is the album's lead single. The song was introduced on July 13, 2008 at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant. It was the background music for the 'Evening Wear' competition of the pageant. The song is also used on the most recent Samsung U900 Soul advert for the summer, the 2008 UAAP Cheerdance Competition in the Philippines, sponsored by Samsung, and the leading food service company Jollibee to celebrate on its 30th anniversary. The song was featured on the 2011 film Jumping the Broom.

Charts

"Magic" was sent to radio May 20, 2008. The song debuted on the US R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart on May 29, 2008 at number 90, and has peaked at number six, giving Thicke his second top ten on the chart. The song debuted on the Hot 100 charts on June 19, 2008 at number 88. After falling from the chart and re-entering same, it ultimately peaked at 59. It has also entered the Canadian Hot 100 chart at number 98 and peaked at number 60. The remixed version, "Magic Touch", otherwise known as the "Moto Blanco Remix" has charted on the US Hot Dance Club Play peaking at number two.

Rooster Teeth

Rooster Teeth Productions is an American production company located in Austin, Texas; Flower Mound, Texas; and Los Angeles, California, involved primarily in the production of machinima (films created in real-time video game environments) with its long-running series Red vs. Blue, as well as live action shorts and series, comedy gameplay with the branch Achievement Hunter, and full animated productions such as RWBY and X-Ray and Vav. Rooster Teeth hosts its convention, RTX, annually in Austin, Texas and most recently Australia.

Rooster Teeth was founded by Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola, and Joel Heyman in 2003. Burns created voice-over-enhanced gameplay videos of Bungie Studios' popular first-person shooter video game Halo: Combat Evolved. Eventually, these videos led to the creation of Red vs. Blue, which premiered in April 2003 and is still in production, making it the longest-running web series of all time. The production team also focuses on projects such as reality shows, video game development, entertainment news programs and podcasts. Rooster Teeth released its feature film debut, Lazer Team, a science fiction action comedy film in 2016.

Gibson MaGIC

Media-accelerated Global Information Carrier (MaGIC) is an Audio over Ethernet protocol developed by Gibson Guitar Corporation in partnership with 3COM. MaGIC allows bidirectional transmission of multichannel audio data, control data, and instrument power.

Revision 1.0 was introduced in 1999; the most current revision 3.0c was released in 2003.

MaGIC is used in several guitar products such as Gibson Digital Guitar.

In terms of ISO OSI model, MaGIC can use physical and link layer (MAC/LLC) based on 100 Mbit Fast Ethernet signalling specified in IEEE 802.3/IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.2, however MaGIC implements proprietary network and application layers which can be used with different physical layers such as Gigabit Ethernet or optical media.

Sex (boutique)

Sex was a boutique run by Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood at 430 King's Road, London between 1974 and 1976. It specialized in clothing that defined the look of the punk movement.

Early History

In October 1971, Malcolm McLaren and a friend from art school, Patrick Casey, opened a stall in the back of the Paradise Garage boutique at 430 King's Road in London's Chelsea district. On sale were items collected by McLaren over the previous year, including rock & roll records, magazines, clothing and memorabilia from the 1950s. From 1969-70, no 430 was the premises of Mr Freedom.

Trevor Myles (who ran Paradise Garage), relinquished the entire premises to McLaren and Casey in November 1971. They renamed the shop Let It Rock with stock including second-hand and new Teddy Boy clothes designed by McLaren's school teacher girlfriend Vivienne Westwood. The shop-front corrugated iron frontage was painted black with the name pasted in pink lettering. The interior was given period detail, such as "Odeon" wallpaper and Festival of Britain trinkets. Bespoke tailored drape jackets, skin-tight trousers, and thick-soled "brothel creepers" shoes were the mainstays. Let It Rock was soon covered in the London Evening Standard. In 1973 the outlet interior was changed and the shop was given a new name, Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die, to reflect a new range of clothing from Britain's early 1960s "rocker" fashions. In the spring of 1974 the shop underwent another refurbishment and was rebranded with the name Sex.

Sex (play)

Sex is a 1926 play written by and starring Mae West, who used the pen name Jane Mast.

Production history

The comedy-drama premiered April 26, 1926 at Daly's 63rd Street Theatre in New York City.

There were 375 performances before the New York Police Department raided West and her company in February 1927. They were charged with obscenity, despite the fact that 325,000 people had watched it, including members of the police department and their wives, judges of the criminal courts, and seven members of the district attorney’s staff. West was sentenced to 10 days in a workhouse on Roosevelt Island (known then as "Welfare Island") and fined $500. The resulting publicity increased her national renown.

The original production was directed by Edward Elsner, produced by C. William Morganstern, and stage managed by Alfred L. Rigali. The original cast featured Mae West as Margy LaMont, Al Re Alia as Curley, Conde Brewer as Condez, Gordon Earle as Waiter, D.J. Hamilton as Jones, Frank Howard as Jenkins, Michael Markham as Spanish Dancer, Constance Morganstern as Marie, Mary Morrisey as Red, Barry O’Neill as Lieutenant Gregg, Ann Reader as Agnes Scott, Pacie Ripple as Robert Stanton, George Rogers as Captain Carter, Warren Sterling as Rocky Waldron, Eda Von Buelow as Clara Smith, and Lyons Wickland as Jimmy Stanton.
