  • Set Me Free (Jermaine Stewart song)

"Set Me Free" is a song from American singer Jermaine Stewart. Released in 1992, it would be the last single of his music career. The song was released as the lead single from the album of the same name "Set Me Free", however the album itself was pulled from release, and as such remains unreleased to date.

"Set Me Free" was written by Stewart and DJ and music producer Jesse Saunders. Saunders, one of the pioneers of House music, also produced the single, as well as the entire "Set Me Free" album. The song is not to be confused with a song of the same name, written by Derek Bramble, which Stewart had previously recorded for his 1989 album "What Becomes a Legend Most".

    Background

Since 1988, there had been a decline in Stewart's popularity, with the 1988 single "Don't Talk Dirty to Me" only reaching #61 in the UK. The 1989 single "Tren de Amor" managed to just peak into the UK top 100, peaking at #97 and the 1990 single "Every Woman Wants To peaked at #95.

Set Me Free (Dillon Francis and Martin Garrix song)

"Set Me Free" is a song by American electronic music producer Dillon Francis and Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. It was released as a digital download on 7 October 2014 as the fifth single from his debut studio album Money Sucks, Friends Rule. The song was written and produced by Dillon Francis and Martin Garrix.

    Set Me Free

    by: John West

All my life I've always been a dreamer
Always reaching out to find a better way
They built the walls, meaning to protect me
Never knowing that they built a prison cell
    Time won't wait for me
    It's over, can't you see?
Set me free - this can't go oh forever
Set me free - to find a better way
Set me free - to taste the life I know
That's waiting there for me... Set me free
It's a mystery and no one knows the answer
Am I wrong to think there's more than this for me?
They'd have us hide behind a stained glass curtain
Kneel us down and teach us bow to pray
    Time won't wait for me
    It's over, can't you see?
Set me free - this can't go on forever
Set me free - to find a better way
Set me free - to taste the life I know
That's waiting there for me... Set me free
All my life I've been a dreamer
Am I wrong to think there's more than this for me?
    Time won't wait for me
It's killing me, can't you see?
Set me free - this can't go on forever
Set me free - to find a better way
Set me free - to taste the life i know
