Left Alone is a punk rock band from Wilmington, California. They were formed in May 1996 by lead vocalist and guitarist Elvis Cortez. Cortez formed his own label, Smelvis Records, to release Left Alone's records, and has since expanded the label to include numerous other underground bands. Cortez was also the owner of the PCH Club in Wilmington, which is now defunct. Left Alone's music has ska influences, and the band is notable for adhering to a do it yourself ethic by avoiding major labels, booking their own tours, and making their own merchandise.
After releasing numerous demos, splits, and EPs, Left Alone released their first full-length, Streets of Wilmington, in 2002. A year later, the band compiled their earlier, out-of-print recordings on the anthology Left Alone: 1996-2000. In 2003, Cortez went on the Warped Tour as a roadie. After Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman heard Left Alone's music, he chose the band to be the Warped Tour BBQ band for the 2004 tour. The band were invited back to be the BBQ band for the 2005 tour. While on the Warped Tour, Tim Armstrong of Rancid heard Left Alone's 2004 album, Lonely Starts & Broken Hearts. Armstrong signed the band to his label, Hellcat Records, and re-released Lonely Starts & Broken Hearts. The band released their third full-length album, Dead American Radio, on August 8, 2006, which features guest appearances from Tim Armstrong and Patricia Day of the Horrorpops.
The band released their self-titled album on April 7, 2009.
They were touring with the Vans Warped Tour 2010.

Left Alone is an album by American jazz pianist Mal Waldron recorded in 1959 and released on the Bethlehem label.
"Left Alone" is Waldron's signature song. He released an album of a similar title, Left Alone Live 1 (Fontana Records). It was recorded in Japan in 1971 and features Isao Suzuki (b) / Yoshiyuki Nakamura (dms) / Kohsuke Mine (A Sax). West 54 Records released the album on LP in 1980 as Left Alone: Mal Waldron Live.
The tracks "Left Alone" and "Catwalk" were released as two sides of a single; both were given four-star reviews by Billboard.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 3 stars, stating: "Although Waldron dedicated the album to Lady Day and talks about her a bit on the last track in a short interview with vibraphonist Teddy Charles (which was recorded a bit later), he actually only performs one song from her repertoire... McLean's emotional alto is such a strong asset on the title cut that one wishes he were on the rest of this worthwhile set."
"Left Alone" is a jazz song written by singer Billie Holiday, and pianist/composer Mal Waldron and published by E.B. Marks. This is one of seven songs written by or co-written by Holiday that she never recorded.
Mal Waldron began working as pianist for Holiday in mid-1953. Holiday had intended to record the song a number of times but "always forget the damned sheet music." However, Waldron himself recorded the song on his 1959 album Left Alone, and near the end of the LP discusses the origin of the song.
An instrumental version of the song appeared on Joe Satriani's Time Machine in 1993.

The seventh season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent premiered on USA Network on October 4, 2007, and ended on August 24, 2008.
The first ten episodes of the seventh season aired on Thursday night's at 10:00PM/9:00PM (Central), filling a slot previously occupied by the first season of Burn Notice. The season then took a "fall finale" with the episode "Senseless," coinciding with the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike where show runner/executive producer Warren Leight and the rest of the writing staff participated in the work stoppage; the first ten episodes of the season being the only ones produced. The remaining twelve episodes resumed airing Sunday night's at 9:00PM/8:00PM (Central) leading in In Plain Sight starting June 8, 2008.
During the 2006-2007 network TV season, both Law & Order: Criminal Intent and the original Law & Order series began to falter in the ratings on NBC; president at the time Jeff Zucker was in a telephone interview with creator Dick Wolf when he renewed both series, Mr. Zucker said the plan to move original episodes of Criminal Intent to USA Network, with the repeats then set to play "shortly thereafter" on NBC, represented "a new paradigm for network TV." Wolf said he was thrilled with the deal because "my stated goal has been to keep all three shows (L&O, CI, & SVU) up and running." Both the original series and Criminal Intent won full 22-episode orders, although most series for cable channels do not produce more than 13. Mr. Wolf said that he had found some budgetary savings to make the deal more viable, but that "none of them are going to be apparent to viewers."
Self Made is the debut studio album by American rapper/producer Rocko, which includes the singles "Umma Do Me", "Tomorrow", and "Dis Morning". Guest artists on the album include Lloyd, KC, Dre, and Monica, and was released by Rocky Roads/So So Def/Island Urban/Def Jam on March 18, 2008. The album scored negative reviews. This is the first album released from So So Def Recordings not to have any production from Jermaine Dupri.
The album debuted at number 21 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 70,000 copies in its first week.
A shining star it sinks
and spreads it's last silver rays
A short glance and then escape
to universal spheres
The last sinking star leaving us
and with it the last remaining truth
Mankind stained itself with sin
Wisdom changed to cold, we hunted everything
The last fleeing star says good-bye
We're left in loneliness
Stars we cannot buy
We're left alone
without warmth, without light
The stars, the moon they leave tonight
God is out of sight
We're left alone
without heart, without soul
We're left alone in fields of gold
The sun, the stars, the moon
returning home to God
Crying about the earth
We're lost in emptiness of space,
we're lost in emptiness of sense
Wounds we have to close
