Seitaro Kitayama(北山 清太郎,Kitayama Seitarō, 1888 – February 2, 1945) was an early Japanese animation director whose work includes the first examples of commercial production of anime. Kitayama was referred to as one of the fathers of anime by Yoshiro Irie, a researcher at Japan's National Film Center.
As of 2003, the village has an estimated population of 619 and a density of 12.84 persons per km². The total area is 48.21km².
Kitayama is the only remaining village in Wakayama Prefecture. Kitayama is known in Japan for growing a fruit called jabara, which is considered a potent cure for hay fever.
