Personality

Personality has to do with individual differences among people in behaviour patterns, cognition and emotion. Different personality theorists present their own definitions of the word based on their theoretical positions.

The term "personality trait" refers to enduring personal characteristics that are revealed in a particular pattern of behaviour in a variety of situations.

Measuring

Personality can be determined through a variety of tests, such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2), Rorschach Inkblot test, Neurotic Personality Questionnaire KON-2006 or Eysenck's Personality Questionnaire (EPQ-R)

Beginning of study

The study of personality started with Hippocrates' four humours and gave rise to four temperaments. The explanation was further refined by his successor Galen during the second century CE. The "Four Humours" theory held that a person's personality was based on the balance of bodily humours; yellow bile, black bile, phlegm and blood. Choleric people were characterized as having an excess of yellow bile, making them irascible. High levels of black bile were held to induce melancholy, signified by a sombre, gloomy, pessimistic outlook. Phlegmatic people were thought to have an excess of phlegm, leading to their sluggish, calm temperaments. Finally, people thought to have high levels of blood were said to be sanguine and were characterized by their cheerful, passionate dispositions.

Personality (horse)

Personality (1967–1990) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was voted 1970 American Horse of the Year honors.

Background

Personality was bred by the partnership of Isidor Bieber and owner/trainer Hirsch Jacobs. Sired by Hail To Reason, the 1960 American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt, Personality was out of U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee Affectionately, a daughter of another Hall of Fame inductee, Swaps.

Personality was raced in the salmon pink-and-green silks of Hirsch Jacobs' wife, Ethel. However, the Hall of Fame trainer died on February 23, 1970, and did not see his three-year-old colt's success that year. Son John took over the race conditioning of Personality and three-year-old stablemate High Echelon.

Racing career

Going into the 1970 U.S. Triple Crown series, Personality was made the second choice by bettors for the Kentucky Derby after winning an allowance race and then the important Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack. Ridden by Eddie Belmonte, Personality finished eighth to Dust Commander in the Derby but came back to win the Preakness Stakes from Corn Off The Cob and High Echelon. Two weeks later, he won the Jersey Derby, a race at Monmouth Park which at the time was used as a warm-up for the final leg of the Triple Crown. However, Personality developed a fever, and his handlers chose not to run him in the Belmont Stakes. Stablemate High Echelon did run and won.

Paul Rose, usually known as Scuba (also known by his SCB alias), is a British electronic musician now based in Berlin. He has released four albums, two EP's and a handful of compilation and mix albums. His style has been described as dubstep with a later 'shift toward a brighter and more eclectic approach to production'. In 2013 he won an award for Best Live Act from DJ Magazine.

History

Rose founded the Hotflush Recordings label, where he released material by Mount Kimbie, Benga and Joy Orbison alongside his own music.

In 2007, Rose decided to move to Berlin. He cited the reasons for it as wanting to leave London while he 'just started to make a living from making music and the position I was in musically was one that I wasn’t particularly enjoying'. He had performed a number of shows in Berlin before and maintained that he 'wanted to get away from London and nowhere in the UK would have fitted'. Berlin became his choice of residence partly as his friend Jaime Teasdale from Vex’d had moved there.

Beast Wars II: Super Life-Form Transformers

Beast Wars II: Super Life-Form Transformers (ビーストウォーズⅡ 超生命体トランスフォーマー, Bīsuto Wōzu Sekando: Chō Seimeitai Toransufōmā) is a 1998 Japanese Transformers anime series, spawning a movie and a toyline. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo from April 1998 to January 1999, and was the first Transformers anime to be produced by Nihon Ad Systems and animated by the studio Ashi Productions. While its position in the Transformers continuity has previously been unknown, the IDW Publishing comic book mini-series Beast Wars: The Gathering and comments from Transformers writer Simon Furman have shown it is part of the Beast Wars continuity. The series was preceded by Beast Wars, and was followed by Super Life-Form Transformers: Beast Wars Neo. Voices are done by Hozumi Gōda and each episode runs for 30 minutes. This anime was succeeded by Beast Wars Neo. The series has a much lighter tone and is aimed more towards children, whereas the more accessible Beast Wars was intended for a wider age range. The series also uses conventional animation rather than CGI. With the exceptions of the faction leaders, all of the characters within the series are either re-molds or re-colors of earlier Beast Wars figures or Generation 2/Machine Wars figures.
