Aaj Tak

AAJ TAK is a 24-hour Hindi news television channel owned by TV Today Network. AAJ TAK loosely translates as "Till Today" or "Up to the Minute". AAJ TAK initially began as a news bulletin on a public television station in India and turned to an independent channel after the carrier did not renew its contract. In India, AAJ TAK is free-to-air. In 2006 it began offering a pay channel to international markets.

Accolades

AAJ TAK has won the Indian Television Academy Award for Best News Channel for 13 successive years. Aaj Tak has also won several other accolades, such as the Indian Telly Awards..

According to a 2006 poll jointly conducted by the BBC and Reuters, of specific news sources spontaneously mentioned by Indians, Aaj Tak was the most trusted.

Tatra Electric Railway

The Tatra Electric Railway (Slovak: Tatranská elektrická železnica), colloquially Tatra Railway, is an electrified (1500 V DC) single track narrow gauge railway 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 ³⁄₈ in) in the Slovak part of the Tatra mountains. It consists of two parts:

History

After the completion of the Košice-Bohumín Railway in 1871 and of Poprad - Kežmarok in 1892, the High Tatras were easier to access, and tourism expanded, which required accessibility. In 1896, a rack railway from Štrbské Pleso to Štrba was built.

Finally, it was decided to build an electrified, narrow gauge railway from Poprad to Starý Smokovec. Construction started in 1906 and the track was opened in 1908. The branch line from Starý Smokovec to Tatranská Lomnica was opened in 1911 and the final extension from Starý Smokovec to Štrbské Pleso was opened in 1912. At that time, the railway was used for passenger, as well as for cargo transport.

Turbomasters

Turbomasters were an Australian, Canadian, and European exclusive range of Transformers toys, released in 1992 as part of their final year of products for the original franchise. A subgroup of the Autobots, there were six Turbomasters: Thunder Clash, Rotorstorm, Boss, Hurricane, Flash, and Scorch. They all had the gimmick of missile launchers which became their engines or turbines when in vehicle mode. Their rivals were the Decepticon Predators. A seventh Turbomaster called Hyperdrive was designed but never released.

Thunder Clash - Function: Commander-in-chief. Thunder Clash is the leader of the Turbomasters and commands the respect of the Autobots, and the loathing of the Predators. He possesses a sharp and keen strategic mind, able to counter the abilities the Predators possess. Thunder Clash transforms into a Cybertronian truck cab with an accompanying trailer, which transforms into a command center.

Rotorstorm - Function: Guide and strategician. The only airborne member of the Turbomasters, Rotorstorm transforms into a helicopter. Possesses a "dodge" ability that allows him to guide his grounded comrades. He maintains an image that he is a ruthless and fearless fighter, respected by all, even the Decepticons, so that he can inspire and motivate his comrades.

Fictional character biography

Originally a normal human from Pisboe, Virginia, Aubrey Sparks was transformed into Scorch during the short "Emperor Joker" storyline. The Joker uses power stolen from Mr. Mxyzptlk to create an alternate universe in which Superman is a villain and creates his own warped version of the Justice League, which includes a psychopathic Scorch, a demonic doppelgänger of the Earth-Angel Supergirl. She attempts to help Bizarro capture Superman. After Joker is defeated, Mr. Mxyzptlk decides to keep several of the new characters by adding them to the restored reality. Thus, Scorch continues to exist after the conclusion of the "Emperor Joker" story arc.

Scorch is later seen in Superman in Action Comics #774 doing battle with Superman and the Martian Manhunter.

Scorch was also later seen in "The Gift" (Superman in Action Comics #783), as a generic villain with no observable goals. She sets a park on fire and fights Superman.
