Scars (Allison Iraheta song)

"Scars" is the second single from the debut album, Just Like You, of American Idol season eight finalist Allison Iraheta. It was written by Toby Gad and Elyssa James. Gad also produced the track.

Critical reception

Reception of "Scars" has been generally positive.

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Slezak wrote "Meanwhile, ballads like the understated Scars and the bluesy Trouble Is separate Iraheta from questionably abled Miley/Selena contemporaries. Girl. Can. Sang!".

Kelsey Paine from Billboard.com agreed writing "soulful tunes like "Scars" and the bluesy "Trouble Is" showcase the raw talent that made Iraheta a star on "Idol" and set her apart from other young pop upstarts."

AOL Radio writer Sara D Anderson praises Scars, noting "'Scars' is one of the many songs (others 'Robot Love,' 'Trouble Is' and 'Friday I'll Be Over U') critically appraised off her debut album that showcases her husky yet powerful vocals and spunky attitude."

Promotion

Iraheta performed the song on February 25, 2010, on the Top 24 elimination episode of the ninth season of American Idol. She also performed an acoustic version of the song on JoJo Wright's radio show JoJo on the Radio on KIIS-FM. Due to Iraheta's popularity in Asia, Iraheta also headlined concerts in Manila and Bali, performing 'Scars' at both.

Scars (Natalie Imbruglia song)

"Scars" was due to be the second and final single from Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia's fourth studio album, Come to Life. The single was originally due to be released on 26 April 2010, but, due to contractual issues with the record label, was cancelled.

Release

The digital download was made available for a short time on Amazon, but was later removed upon a request from the record company. It was announced in June that a physical release of the single would be available from 5 July 2010, nearly a year after the previous single, "Want", was released. Come July, however, no copies of the single made it to the shelves. As of August 2010, all sources of the physical single and digital download have cancelled the release. It is unknown if the single will have a full and official release, and if so, where it will be available to download or buy, and with or without the music video and song receiving airplay on radio and music TV channels. The video for the song was recorded and directed by Max & Dania, and was due to be released on 14 March 2010. However, it was later postponed following a request by Imbruglia.

Scars (Gary Moore album)

Scars is a 2002 album by the Gary Moore-led blues rock group called Scars (not to be confused with the seminal Edinburgh post-punk group called Scars).

In 2002 Gary Moore decided to form a band with ex-Skunk Anansie bassist Cass Lewis and Primal Scream drummer Darrin Mooney called Scars. Their studio album "Scars", released on September 2nd on Sanctuary Records, includes compositions reminiscent of the sound of artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, in a modern way.

Zipper

A zipper, zip, fly or zip fastener, formerly known as a clasp locker, is a commonly used device for binding the edges of an opening of fabric or other flexible material, like on a garment or a bag. It is used in clothing (e.g., jackets and jeans), luggage and other bags, sporting goods, camping gear (e.g. tents and sleeping bags), and other items. Whitcomb L. Judson was an American inventor from Chicago who was the first to invent, conceive of the idea, and to construct a workable zipper. The method, still in use today, is based on interlocking teeth. Initially it was called the “hookless fastener” and was later redesigned to become more reliable.

Description

The bulk of a zipper/zip consists of two rows of protruding teeth, which may be made to interdigitate, linking the rows, carrying from tens to hundreds of specially shaped metal or plastic teeth. These teeth can be either individual or shaped from a continuous coil, and are also referred to as elements. The slider, operated by hand, moves along the rows of teeth. Inside the slider is a Y-shaped channel that meshes together or separates the opposing rows of teeth, depending on the direction of the slider's movement. The word Zipper is onomatopoetic, because it was named for the sound the device makes when used, a high-pitched zip.

Zipper (data structure)

A zipper is a technique of representing an aggregate data structure so that it is convenient for writing programs that traverse the structure arbitrarily and update its contents, especially in purely functional programming languages. The zipper was described by Gérard Huet in 1997. It includes and generalizes the gap buffer technique sometimes used with arrays.

The zipper technique is general in the sense that it can be adapted to lists, trees, and other recursively defined data structures. Such modified data structures are usually referred to as "a tree with zipper" or "a list with zipper" to emphasize that the structure is conceptually a tree or list, while the zipper is a detail of the implementation.

A layman's explanation for a tree with zipper would be an ordinary computer filesystem with operations to go to parent (often cd ..), and the possibility to go downwards (cd subdirectory). The zipper is the pointer to the current path. Behind the scenes the zippers are efficient when making (functional) changes to a data structure, where a new, slightly changed, data structure is returned from an edit operation (instead of making a change in the current data structure).

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (informally known as Rescue Rangers) is an animated television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. Created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, it featured the established Disney characters Chip 'n' Dale in a new setting. The series premiered on The Disney Channel on March 4, 1989, after a preview episode ("Catteries Not Included") was aired on August 27, 1988. The series premiered with a two-hour movie special, Rescue Rangers: To the Rescue, which was later broken up into five parts to air as part of the weekday run. The final episode aired on November 19, 1990.

On September 18, 1989, the series entered national syndication. From 1990 to 1993 reruns of the show were aired as a part of the Disney Afternoon line up.

Synopsis

Chip and Dale are two chipmunks who start a detective agency, Rescue Rangers, along with their friends Gadget, Monterey Jack, and Zipper. The pint-sized detectives deal with crimes that are often "too small" for the police to handle, usually with other animals as their clients. The gang frequently find themselves going up against two particular arch-villains: Mafia-style tabby cat Fat Cat and mad scientist Norton Nimnul.
