Scar the Martyr is an American heavy metal band consisting of Joey Jordison, Kris Norris, Jed Simon, Kyle Konkiel, Matthew Tarach, and Kalen Chase.
The band was announced in April 2013 by drummer Joey Jordison, who was still playing with Slipknot at the time, and was shown to feature former Strapping Young Lad guitarist Jed Simon and former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris. In June 2013 the group announced its name and full lineup, which included former Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna on keyboards, who only stayed in the band as a session member for the bands debut album, and former Lilitu and Blood Promise vocalist Henry Derek Bonner. Their first album was released on October 1, 2013.
On September 19, 2013, a free online-only EP was released for download exclusively through Revolver Magazine's website requiring a password that can be found on Roadrunner Record's website. The EP contained four tracks, two of which were the album tracks "Blood Host" and "Soul Disintegration". The other 2 were exclusive to the EP and not available anywhere else; they were entitled "After the Fall" and "Trinity of Lies".
Scar the Martyr is the eponymous debut album by the American supergroup Scar the Martyr, released on October 1, 2013.
The album was mostly written by former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, who formed the band alongside Blood Promise frontman Henry Derek Bonner in early 2013. Jordison performed all drums, bass and the majority of rhythm guitars on the album before bringing in Chris Vrenna (formerly of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson) to perform keyboards, and Kris Norris (formerly of Darkest Hour) and Jed Simon (formerly of Strapping Young Lad) to perform lead guitar duties. The first song released from the album, Blood Host, was released on August 2, 2013. The second song, Soul Disintegration, was released alongside the album artwork on August 16, 2013.
The album was met with positive reviews by critics; however, specific aspects of the album's construction and overall tone were met with divided opinions.
Sputnikmusic stated that the album's sound appeared to include many elements from Slipknot, the differences being that Derek’s vocal style is more varied and has not come across as a Corey Taylor clone and that the keyboards used aided in creating eerie atmospheres which aided the industrial sounding guitars, the main set-back being that with the extended length of a relatively small number of tracks, the album was too long and should have been shortened.

Scar is a horror/crime thriller film. It stars actress Angela Bettis, known for starring in the remake of the horror classic horror film Carrie. It is the first US produced 3D full-length feature film to be completed in HD 3D and the first-ever 3D Video on demand film released for 3D televisions.
Joan Burrows (Bettis) returns to her hometown of Ovid, Colorado to attend her niece Olympia's (Blanton) high school graduation, but finds herself confronted by her past in the town. Before the graduation is to occur, a young couple goes missing and within a few days a mutilated body is found in the water during a town fish festival. This initiates flashbacks in which Joan's dark past is learned. When Joan was 17, she and her best friend were kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer by the name of Bishop (Cotton). Bishop bound Joan and her friend to an autopsy table where one girl was tortured while the other had the power to make it stop simply by demanding the death of the friend. Joan was able to escape and kill her captor, but was left as the sole survivor of the spree with a scar on her cheek. With the present day's body count rising, questions arise whether Bishop had evaded death or if a new copy cat killer has arisen.
A scar is a mark left behind after a wound has healed.

A martyr (Greek: μάρτυς, mártys, "witness"; stem μάρτυρ-, mártyr-) is somebody who suffers persecution and/or death for advocating, renouncing, refusing to renounce, and/or refusing to advocate a belief or cause as demanded by an external party. This refusal to comply with the presented demands results in the punishment or execution of the martyr by the oppressor. Originally applied only to those who suffered for their religious beliefs, it is now often used for people imprisoned or executed for espousing a political cause.
Most martyrs are considered holy or are respected by their followers, becoming symbols of exceptional leadership and heroism in the face of difficult circumstances. Martyrs play significant roles in religions. Similarly, martyrs have had notable effects in secular life, including specific figures such as Socrates, as well as in politics and Chinese culture.
In its original meaning, the word martyr, meaning witness, was used in the secular sphere as well as in the New Testament of the Bible. The process of bearing witness was not intended to lead to the death of the witness, although it is known from ancient writers (e.g. Josephus) and from the New Testament that witnesses often died for their testimonies.
Momma I fear the night is falling
Blacker than jet and cold as ice
And somewhere a gentle voice is calling
And I hear the sounds of paradise
See the innocent dying
Has the world gone insane
Now the death angelsflying
And he's calling my name
I know this will be my finest hour
I stand face to face with the enemy
Defying his awesome evil power
And hold my light high for the world to see
And nothing else matters
Just hold fast to the right
See the enemy scatter
See his forces take flight
Momma don't shed a tear for me
Don't wring your hands and moan
Remember it's darkest
Just before dawn
You know we'll meet again
Around that shining throne
My hands were not empty
I was never alone
See the innocent dying
Has the world gone insane
Now the death angels are flying
And he's calling my name
