4,4'-Oxydianiline

4,4’-Oxydianiline is an organic compound with the formula O(C₆H₄NH₂)₂. It is an ether derivative of aniline. This colourless solid is a useful monomer and cross-linking agent for polymers, especially the polyimides, such as Kapton.

Uses

4,4’-Oxydianiline is used in the production of a wide variety of polymer resins. The primary use lies in the production of polyimide and poly(ester)imide resins. These resins are used for their temperature-resistant properties and are utilized in products including wire enamels, coatings, film, adhesives, insulating varnishes, coated fabrics, flame-retardant fibers, oil sealants and retainers, insulation for cables and printed circuits, and laminates and composite for aerospace vehicles.

Other applications of 4,4’-oxydianiline include the production of poly(amide)imide resins (which are used in the manufacture of heat-resistant wire enamels and coatings), as an intermediate in the manufacture of epoxy resins and adhesives, and in the production of aromatic polyether imides.

Demoxytocin

Demoxytocin (INN) (brand names Sandopart, Odeax, Sandopral), also known as desaminooxytocin or deaminooxytocin, as well as 1-(3-mercaptopropanoic acid)oxytocin ([Mpa¹]OT), is an oxytocic peptide drug and synthetic analogue of oxytocin that is marketed in several European countries, including Italy, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. It has the amino acid sequence Mpa-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH₂ (Mpa = β-mercaptopropionic acid), and is an analogue of oxytocin wherein the leading cysteine is replaced with β-mercaptopropionic acid. Demoxytocin has similar activities as oxytocin, but is more potent and has a longer half-life in comparison. Unlike oxytocin, which is given via intravenous injection, demoxytocin is administered as a buccal tablet formulation. It is used to induce labor,promote lactation, and to prevent and treat puerperal (postpartum) mastitis (breast inflammation). The drug was first synthesized in 1960 and was introduced into clinical practice in 1971 by Sandoz.

The season focused on the lives of the team members, the relationship between Olivia and the president (her former employer), and the mystery surrounding Amanda Tanner's (Liza Weil) involvement with the White House, among other cases the team solved.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Scandal got a rating of 89% based on 27 reviews.Metacritic gave the show a rating of 64 out of 100 based on 29 reviews.

Scandal (Shusaku Endo novel)

Scandal is a 1986 novel by the Japanese author Shusaku Endō. Endo was a Japanese Catholic writer whose works, among other things, covered various aspects of the Japanese Catholic experience. He was furthermore a member of the Japanese 'literary establishment,' accounting for the importance of PEN meetings in the work. Aging in Japan was also addressed via commentary on the medical problems suffered by an elderly man.

Plot summary

Set in Tokyo during the 1980s, it tells the story of an old Catholic writer struggling with old age and the feeling that he yet has to write his magnum opus. One day, a young woman shows up at a party attended by the main character, Suguro, mentioning loudly that he has not been visiting the ill-reputed street where she works as an artist lately. Because of his reputation as a Christian writer with high moral standards, such behaviour is seen by his publishers as very undesirable and by himself as very embarrassing.

He meets a young girl, Mitsu, telling him about enjo kōsai ("compensated dating"), and Suguro decides to hire her as an assistant to help relieve his rheumatic wife from such activities. As time passes he starts to dream about this young girl, but keeps silent about it so as not to worry his wife.

Scandal (EP)

Scandal is a self-titled, 5-song EP by the band Scandal, released in 1982 by Columbia Records. Although the EP has never been released on CD, all five songs are found on the VH1 Scandal compilation album called We Are the '80s. The EP's album cover photo of the five band members is also reproduced on the VH1 compilation's cover (with an updated photograph).

The song "Win Some, Lose Some" was written in 1979 and first recorded by Bryan Adams on his 1980 self-titled debut album.
