Say the Word

"Say the Word" is Namie Amuro's 19th solo single under the Avex Trax label. It is her first single after the termination of her working relationship with longtime producer, Tetsuya Komuro. Debuting in the top three after an all-time low chart debut by its predecessor, "Think of Me / No More Tears" (2001), "Say the word" was her last single to sell over 100,000 copies until her 26th single, "All for You" (2004).

Release and promotion

"Say the Word" was originally scheduled for release in July but was delayed a month for release on August 8. Early promotion for the single touted it as her first as a singer-songwriter. A vinyl single issued through Rhythm Republic was released in September. An exclusive remix of the title track, "Say the World (Clappy Mix)" was included on the a-side of the disc. 1,500 copies of it were released before it went out of print.

During year-end promotions where artist typically perform their most popular songs of the year in Japan, Amuro premiered a dance version of "Say the Word" on Best Artist 30. This version would later be released on the greatest hits album, Love Enhanced Single Collection (2002). The original version of the song has remained exclusive to its single and has not yet been released on an album.

Say the Word (Arcadia song)

Say the Word was the fifth and final single released by the Duran Duran offshoot band, Arcadia. Recorded for the soundtrack of Playing for Keeps, it was released as a single in the US by Atlantic Records.

Music video

The video was an amalgam of previous Arcadia videos, interspersed with scenes from the film.

B-sides, bonus tracks and remixes

The single's B-side comprised an instrumental version.

The extended mixes on the promo 12" were remixed by Shep Pettibone.

Say the Word (The Walking Dead)

"Say the Word" is the fifth episode of the third season of the post-apocalyptic horror television series The Walking Dead. It was written by Angela Kang and directed by Greg Nicotero, and originally aired on AMC in the United States on November 11, 2012.

Plot

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is traumatized after the death of his wife Lori during childbirth, and abandons his responsibility as both a parent to his new daughter and to the other members of the group, instead releasing his anger on walkers. Daryl (Norman Reedus) steps up as an interim leader, and offers to go with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) to locate infant formula and other supplies for the newborn. Glenn (Steven Yeun), Axel (Lew Temple), and Oscar (Vincent Ward) dig graves for their fallen, Lori, T-Dog, and Carol; Glenn remains resentful towards the prisoners Axel and Oscar due to losing his friends as a result of their fellow prisoner Andrew's sabotage. Glenn then goes to look for Rick in the prison tunnels, who is still mindlessly killing walkers. Glenn tries to convince Rick to return with him, but Rick throws him against the wall and yells at him to leave him alone. Daryl and Maggie successfully recover supplies from an abandoned daycare center, and they see to tending to the newborn. Daryl asks Carl (Chandler Riggs) what to name his sister, and Carl considers the names of those that they have already lost. Daryl later visits Carol's grave, placing a Cherokee Rose to honor her memory.

English articles

Articles in the English language are the definite article the and the indefinite articles a and an. Use of the definite article implies that the speaker assumes the listener knows the identity of the noun's referent (because it is obvious, because it is common knowledge, or because it was mentioned in the same sentence or an earlier sentence). Use of an indefinite article implies that the speaker assumes the listener does not have to be told the identity of the referent. In some noun phrases no article is used.

Use of articles

The rules of English grammar require that in most cases a noun, or more generally a noun phrase, must be "completed" with a determiner to clarify what the referent of the noun phrase is. The most common determiners are the articles the and a(n), which specify the presence or absence of definiteness of the noun. Other possible determiners include words like this, my, each and many – see English determiners. There are also cases where no determiner is required, as in the sentence John likes fast cars. Or the sentence Bob likes cool trains.

Om (The Moody Blues song)

"Om" is a 1968 song by the British progressive rock band The Moody Blues. It was composed by the band's keyboardist Mike Pinder. "Om" has a heavy Indian influence and sound to it. "Om," which is chanted repeatedly throughout the song, represents Aum, a sacred mantra in the Hindu, Jain and Buddhist religions.

"Om" is the final track on the Moody Blues 1968 album In Search of the Lost Chord. On the album, "Om" is preceded by a short spoken-word interlude named "The Word". "The Word" was written by drummer Graeme Edge, and is recited by Mike Pinder. "The Word" explains the album's concept, and that the mantra "Om" is the lost chord referenced in the album's title, which concludes with:

To name the chord is important to some.
So they give it a word,
And the word is "Om"

While "The Word" and "Om" are generally played together, "The Word" was released on The Moody Blues 1974 compilation This Is The Moody Blues without "Om." However, the final word of "The Word", which is also the first word of "Om", was included.
