  • It's My Life (Bon Jovi song)

"It's My Life" is Bon Jovi's first single from the album Crush. It was released on May 23, 2000. It was written by Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, and Max Martin.

The song charted in the top 10 across several countries (although it only reached number 33 in the US). Though the band had moved away from the glam-oriented sound with 1992's Keep the Faith, it has the distinction of making Bon Jovi one of the only bands once classified as 1980s glam metal to reach the top 40 in the 2000s, a testament to how the song managed to introduce the band to a new, younger fanbase. The song is arguably their most well known post-1980s hit single and it has been performed live at almost all shows since its release.

    Background

The song has many classic Bon Jovi features, such as Sambora's use of the talk box, and a line in the second verse "For Tommy and Gina, who never backed down" refers to Tommy and Gina, a fictional working class couple that Bon Jovi and Sambora first wrote about in their 1986 hit "Livin' on a Prayer".

My Life (Bliss N Eso song)

"My Life" is a song by Australian hip hop group Bliss N Eso, with guest vocals performed by American recording artist, Ceekay Jones. Written by Max McKinnon, Matthew Kirk, Jonathan Notley, Ebony West (Runway Star) and Nigel Kirk, the song was first released in November 2013 as the fifth single from Bliss N Eso's fifth studio album, Circus in the Sky (2013).

    Background and release

In late 2012, Bliss n Eso began recording material for their fifth studio album, Circus in the Sky (2013) in Australia and Los Angeles, with the goal of "creating their most electric and progressive album to date". After touring North America and visiting Afghanistan to perform for Australian troops, Bliss N Eso released "My Life" as the fifth single from their aforementioned album in November 2013.

    Music video

The song's accompanying music video, which runs for four minutes and forty-nine seconds was directed by Allan Hardy. While the video contains footage from Bliss n Eso's visit to Canada and the United States, it mostly centres on Australian freestyle motocross racer, Cam Sinclair. The video chronicles Sinclair's life-threatening accident at the 2009 Red Bull X Fighters Freestyle Motocross event in Madrid, Spain, the rehabilitation and training he undergoes in the aftermath of this accident and his subsequent return to competition at the 2010 X Games in Los Angeles. In addition to Sinclair, the video also features appearances from a number of other athletes including, Robbie Maddison, TJ Lavin, Aaron "Wheelz" Fotheringham, Jaie Toohey, Cam White and James Doerfling among others.

    My Life (Fidel Castro autobiography)

My Life - A Spoken Autobiography by Fidel Castro and Ignacio Ramonet was published in Spanish in 2006 (Fidel Castro: biografía a dos voces), and English in 2007. The book was written by Ramonet based on more than 100 hours of interviews with Castro.

    My Life (Billy Joel song)

"My Life" is a song by Billy Joel that first appeared on his 1978 album 52nd Street. A single version was released in the fall of 1978 and reached #2 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart. Early the next year it peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

    Song information

The song begins with drums and electric bass, followed by a keyboard riff. The riff is also used as a fill between verse and chorus sections and is also played at the end. The section order is intro-verse-fill-chorus-bridge-v-f-c-b-solo-c-outro.

Chicago members Peter Cetera and Donnie Dacus performed the backing vocals and sang along with Billy Joel during the bridge and in the outro ("Keep it to yourself, it's my life").

"My Life" was used as the theme song for the ABC television series Bosom Buddies (1980–82), albeit in a re-recorded version with a different vocalist. However, due to licensing issues it does not appear on the VHS and DVD releases of the series, nor is it used in the show's syndicated airings; in both cases, it is replaced by a vocal version of the show's closing instrumental theme, "Shake Me Loose", sung by Stephanie Mills, who, like Joel, also originated from New York City.

    Sash window

A sash window or hung sash window is made of one or more movable panels, or "sashes", that form a frame to hold panes of glass, which are often separated from other panes (or "lights") by glazing bars, also known as muntins in the US (moulded strips of wood). Although any window with this style of glazing is technically a sash, the term is used almost exclusively to refer to windows where the glazed panels are opened by sliding vertically, or horizontally in a style known as a "Yorkshire light", sliding sash, or sash and case (so called because the weights are concealed in a box case). The oldest surviving examples of sash windows were installed in England in the 1670s, for example at Ham House. The invention of the sash window is sometimes credited, without conclusive evidence, to Robert Hooke. Others see the sash window as a Dutch invention.

The sash window is often found in Georgian and Victorian houses, and the classic arrangement has three panes across by two up on each of two sash, giving a six over six panel window, although this is by no means a fixed rule. Innumerable late Victorian and Edwardian suburban houses were built in England using standard sash window units approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) in width, but older, hand-made units could be of any size, as the image illustrates.

Father says he is the only one
And even if he is the only one
I find him so confusing still today
Mother says she is the only one
And even if she is the only one
She was the one I needed her today
She was the one I needed her today
You know I never tried to hurt you
I never tried you know I really never tried
Somehow I find I really need you
I'll never, ever, ever leave you
You never ever will believe me
    Chorus:
Even if you walked across the skies
    I'll be with you tonight
Even if you told a thousand lies
    I'd still believe you
All alone along the sea I dream of you
You know I need you here with me
    The emptiness inside my heart
Your an angel well within my
Your and angel weel within my sight
Sister says she was the only one
And even if she was the only one
My life was just completed yesterday
Darling say that you're the only one
And if you say that you're the only one
My life was just completed here today
My life was just completed here today
I find him so confusing still today
