Santa Ana College

Santa Ana College is a community college located in Santa Ana, California, USA.

History

In 1915, Santa Ana Junior College opened its doors to 25 students as a department of Santa Ana High School. It was the second community college founded in Orange County, behind Fullerton College, and the fourth oldest in all of California. An earthquake in 1933 damaged the Santa Ana High School building, prompting the campus move to North Main Street where it remained until 1947. A bond issue passed in 1945, paving the way for development of a 48 acre (194,000 m²) campus at its current location. Santa Ana College plays host to Middle College High School, a small alternative high school in the Santa Ana Unified School District in which students can earn their Associate of Arts degree at the same time as their High School diploma. In the late 1970s the college purchased the properties on Martha Lane south of the original campus and that land is now part of the parking lot. Recent years have witnessed the further development of and annexation of adjacent property to the original location.

Santa Ana, Entre Ríos

Santa Ana (Entre Ríos) is a village and municipality in Entre Ríos Province in north-eastern Argentina.

The 1979 completion of the Salto Grande Dam put thousands of acres under water, and Santa Ana shifted to citrus production, which now supports 60% of the population.

Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center

Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center is a passenger rail station and transportation center in Santa Ana, California. It is used by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink's Orange County Line and Inland Empire-Orange County Line trains. It is also a Greyhound station and a hub for the Orange County Transportation Authority bus system as well as a terminal for several Mexican bus tour companies.

When the station opened on September 7, 1985 it was the largest new rail station built in the United States since the completion of the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal circa 1955. The center was erected on the site of a former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway combination depot that had been constructed in 1939 and closed in 1982. The station, which cost approximately $17 million, was funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, California Department of Transportation, and city.

The station was designed by the architectural firm of The Blurock Partnership (from Newport Beach), in the Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Revival architectural styles to complement the region’s older buildings. Features include red barrel roof tiles, arcades, colonnades, exterior walls finished to resemble stucco, and the extensive use of painted tiles for decoration.
