Samsung Galaxy

Samsung Galaxy (stylized as Samsung GALAXY or SAMSUNG Galaxy) is a series of mobile computing devices designed, manufactured and marketed by Samsung Electronics. The product line includes the Galaxy S series of high-end smartphones, the Galaxy Tab series of tablets, the Galaxy Note series of tablets and phablets with the added functionality of a stylus and the first version of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, with later versions dropping the Galaxy branding.

Samsung Galaxy devices have traditionally used the Android operating system produced by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google, usually with a custom user interface called TouchWiz. This tradition was broken at CES 2016 with the announcement of the first Galaxy-branded Windows 10 device, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S.

Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is an Android smartphone produced by Samsung Electronics and was first shown publicly on March 14, 2013 at Samsung Mobile Unpacked in New York City. It is the successor to the Galaxy S III which maintains a similar design, but with upgraded hardware and an increased focus on software features that take advantage of its hardware capabilities—such as the ability to detect when a finger is hovered over the screen, and expanded eye tracking functionality. A hardware variant of the S4 became the first smartphone to support the emerging LTE Advanced mobile network standard.

The S4 was made available in late April 2013 on 327 carriers in 155 countries. It became Samsung's fastest selling smartphone, with 20 million sold worldwide in the first two months, and 40 million in the first six months.

Samsung Galaxy 5

The Samsung Galaxy 5, (also called Samsung GT-I5500, Samsung GT-I5503, Samsung Galaxy Europa, Samsung Galaxy 550, Samsung Corby Smartphone and Samsung Corby Android in some countries), is a smartphone. It uses the open source Android operating system (OS). It was announced on June 15, 2010.

Specifications

The phone measures 108 millimetres (4.3 in) x 56 millimetres (2.2 in) x 12.3 millimetres (0.48 in). It ships with Android 2.1 Eclair (or 2.2 Froyo) operating system and supports the HSDPA ("3.5G") mobile telephony protocol at 7.2 Mbit/s. The user interface features a capacitive touchscreen but does not support multi-touch as found on high end smartphones. The 2.8 inches (71 mm) screen supports QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) resolution with a 16M color depth. The communication features include Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi and A-GPS.

Android

When originally released, the phone came with Android 2.1 as the preinstalled OS. As of August 2011, most phones are shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo. Most carriers allow an update from Android 2.1 to 2.2 via the Samsung Kies (exception: Users from India & Pakistan didn't receive the 2.2 update) software package, that is bundled with the phone. Froyo brought many new features to the phone, including voice dialling.

Samsung Galaxy Y

Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360) is an Android-based smartphone by Samsung, announced in August 2011. Its main features are 3G connection with speeds up to 7.2 Mbit/s and Wi-Fi.

Features

Galaxy Y features Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS with Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz user interface, and has integrated social networking apps and multimedia features, including Google Voice Search, and 5.1 channel audio enhancements. It also has a standard 3.5 mm 4-pin audio jack. The device consists of an 832 MHz ARMv6 processor, 290 MB RAM, 190 MB of internal storage and supports up to 32 GB of removable storage through a microSD card. The phone has a 2 MP camera, a screen with a 240x320 resolution and a multitouch interface with the optional SWYPE virtual keyboard. The phone offers connectivity options such as HSDPA 3G connection up to 7.2 Mbit/s and a Wi-Fi connection. The phone also offers Remote Controls which allows phone to be locked, tracked and data to be wiped remotely. The Galaxy Y originally ran on Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). An official upgrade to Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) was released via Samsung Kies and Over-the-air. The Galaxy Y can also be flashed and upgraded with custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod releases (although not officially supported by Samsung). It will run CyanogenMod 7, 9, 11 respectively but it is unofficially supported so there may be stability issues.
