Sammie Szmodics

Samuel Joseph "Sammie" Szmodics (born 24 September 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Colchester United. He started his career with Colchester United where he progressed through the club's academy since the age of seven. He made his professional debut for the club in September 2013. He has also appeared for Braintree Town on loan.

Career

Born in Colchester, Szmodics is a product of the Colchester United academy, having progressed through the club's youth ranks since the age of seven. He was a regular starter and scorer for the under-18 side, which included a goal in Colchester's 3–2 FA Youth Cup defeat by Chelsea on 1 December 2012, sweeping in Macauley Bonne's cross.

2013–14 season

For Colchester United's 2013–14 pre-season campaign, Szmodics was drafted in to the first-team for their friendly fixtures. He was included in manager Joe Dunne's squad for a game at AFC Sudbury on 12 July 2013, and scored twice in two first-half minutes to hand Colchester a 2–0 lead in their eventual 5–0 win. Szmodics was then drafted into the first-team squad during the season while the club were suffering an injury crisis. He came on as a substitute for Craig Eastmond to make his professional debut on 28 September as Colchester drew 1–1 with Bristol City at Ashton Gate. He was then introduced in the 57th minute of the following game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, replacing Jeffrey Monakana in the 3–0 home defeat on 5 October.

Sammie Leigh Bush Jr. (born March 1, 1987), known professionally by the mononym Sammie, is an American R&B singer. He is best known for his hit, "I Like It" (1999) from his debut album, From the Bottom to the Top (2000). He returned with his second studio album, Sammie in 2006. He is currently finishing his third album Coming of Age under his own label StarCamp Entertainment, which is partnered with Twenty Two Recordings and EMI.

Career

From the Bottom to the Top (1999–2001)

In 1999, Sammie was signed to Capitol Records and released his debut album, "From the Bottom to the Top", on March 14, 2000. Debuting at number 46 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and 21 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums" charts, it was certified gold by the RIAA for more than 500,000 copies shipped to stores. The first single, "I Like It" reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song" charts, simultaneously became gold-certified by the RIAA. The second single, "Crazy Things I Do" was released in early 2000 and peaked at number 39 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart.

Sammie (album)

Sammie is the self-titled second studio album by American singer Sammie, released by Rowdy Records on October 10, 2006 in the United States (see 2006 in music). The singer teamed with producers Bryan Michael Cox, Dallas Austin, Jazze Pha, (Former 112 member) Daron Jones, Adonis Shropshire and Novel.

The album garnered a mostly positive reception from music critics, and produced only two singles of which both failed to chart or sell noticeably. Soon considered a commercial failure, it reached the top ten of U.S. Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at number eight, and number forty-two on the Billboard 200, selling over 20,000 copies in its first week. The album was released with as exclusive versions with different bonus track to Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City.

Background

Production and title

After the success of his first album From the Bottom to the Top and a hiatus to finish high school, Sammie entered the recording studios in 2005 to start work on his self-title second album with reteaming with producer Dallas Austin. Austin signed the then seventeen-year-old to his record label, Rowdy Records. The singer described the album as "soulful" and "passionate."
