Samuel Grosvenor "Sam" Wood (July 10, 1883 – September 22, 1949) was an American film director and producer, who was best known for directing such Hollywood hits as A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, and The Pride of the Yankees. He was also involved in a few acting and writing projects.
Wood was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his career as an actor, and worked for Cecil B. De Mille as an assistant in 1915. A solo director by 1919, Wood worked throughout the 1920s directing some of Paramount Pictures's biggest stars, among them Gloria Swanson and Wallace Reid. He joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1927, working with Marion Davies, Clark Gable, Marie Dressler, and Jimmy Durante. In the 1940s, Wood directed Ginger Rogers through her Oscar-winning performance in Kitty Foyle (1940).
At one point, he served as president of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals.
Wood was married to Clara L. Roush from 1908 to his death in 1949. One of Wood's daughters was film and television actress K.T. Stevens who started her career in one of her father's films, Peck's Bad Boy (1921), credited as 'Baby Gloria Wood'. His oldest daughter was also an actress, Jeane Wood.
Samuel James Wood (born 9 August 1986 in Sidcup, London) is an English professional footballer currently playing for Wycombe Wanderers. Wood is a left-sided and right-sided player who can play either at full back or on the wing.
Sam Wood started playing football for Long Lane before joining Cray Wanderers. He progressed through the ranks at the club before joining the reserve team in 2002 and eventually making his first team debut in 2003. During his time at Cray, he became a fans' favourite, helping the club to the quarter-final of the FA Vase, and promotion to the Isthmian League for the first time in the club's history, in the 2003–04 season, and scoring Cray supporters' goal of the season to clinch a 2–0 victory against AFC Wimbledon to end their 78-game unbeaten run. He finished his Cray career with 8 goals from 94 games, and then signed for Bromley, the club whose ground Cray shared, in 2005.
At Bromley, Wood won the Supporters' Player of the Year award in 2006 and the Club Player of the Year in 2007, and scored 21 goals from 159 appearances. His performances attracted interest from professional clubs, and after trials with clubs including Gillingham, Charlton Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wood joined League Two club Brentford in May 2008.

Wood featured in the pre-season friendly against Dewsbury Rams, he was not selected for the friendly against Leeds Rhinos.
He made his debut in the Challenge Cup against Rochdale Hornets on the wing. He then featured in Round 21 (Wigan Warriors). Wood played in Round 26 (London Broncos) to Round 27 (Huddersfield Giants). He scored against Rochdale Hornets (1 try). He signed a 3 Year Extension to his contract.
2014 - 2014 Season
Wood featured in the pre-season friendlies against Hull FC and Dewsbury Rams.
He featured in Round 6 (Hull KR) to Round 7 (Widnes Vikings) then in Round 10 (Wigan Warriors). He played in Round 12 (St Helens RLFC). He also featured in Round 4 (Oldham Roughyeds) in the Challenge Cup.
