Sam Hoare

Sam Hoare (born 12 August 1991) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the North Queensland Cowboys of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays prop.

Background

Born and raised in Rockhampton, Queensland, Hoare played his junior football for the Rockhampton Brothers and attended Emmaus College, Rockhampton before being signed by the North Queensland Cowboys.

In 2009, Hoare played for the Townsville Stingers in the Mal Meninga Cup. Later that season, he made his debut for the Cowboys' NYC, for whom he played for until 2011. In 2011, Hoare suffered a season-ending knee injury, missing the NYC Grand Final.

In 2012, Hoare moved into the Cowboys' NRL squad and played for the club's Queensland Cup affiliate, the Mackay Cutters. On 28 June 2012, Hoare re-signed with the Cowboys on a 2-year contract. In 2013, Hoare played for the Queensland Residents and was a member of the Mackay side that won the Queensland Cup Grand Final.

In Round 17 of the 2014 NRL season, Hoare made his NRL debut for the Cowboys against the St. George Illawarra Dragons. On 24 July 2014, Hoare re-signed with the Cowboys on a 2-year contract.

Sam Hoare (rugby league born 1985)

Sam Hoare (born 1985), is the Australian hooker for rugby league club Halifax. Sam paid his air fare over to the UK in hope that he would get a contract with a club. After being turned away by rivals Castleford Tigers, Halifax coach Martin Hall gave Hoare a trial originally till the end of March 2007. But after two impressive appearances including two tries in his debut against Gateshead Thunder, Hall was quick to obtain Sam's signature, in which Sam signed a one-year deal. Sam was formerly with NSWRL club Western Suburbs Magpies.

Sam Hoare (born 27 June 1981) is a British actor and director best known for his role as Dickie Burnell, alongside Matt Smith in BBC1's Olympic drama Bert & Dickie (2012).

Hoare wrote and directed his début feature film, Having You, starring Anna Friel and Romola Garai, which was premièred in May 2013 on Sky Movies.

Early life & education

Born Simon Patrick Douro Hoare, he is the son of Timothy James Douro Hoare and his former wife "Linda" Kinvara Cayzer, the granddaughter of Herbert Cayzer, 1st Baron Rotherwick. Hoare was educated at Eton College, and then read Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, where he performed in a number of plays at the student theatre.

Acting career

Hoare went on to perform on stage, including productions at the Chichester Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe and The Theatre Royal Haymarket, for a 6-month run of Breakfast at Tiffany's directed by Sean Mathias. Alongside his theatrical and TV appearances, including Eastenders and Doctors, Hoare appeared in films; with Nicole Kidman in The Golden Compass and Samuel L. Jackson in Captain America.
