STEMM

STEMM was an American metal band hailing from Niagara Falls, New York. STEMM's first concert was opening for major label recording artist Sevendust. Their last performance was on December 1, 2012 located in their hometown of Buffalo.

STEMM was endorsed by ESP Guitars, Jägermeister and Mesa Boogie.

They won the Buffalo Music Award for Best Hardcore/Metal act in WNY for 3 consecutive years. (2001, 2002, & 2003)

Former vocalist Tom "T.J." Frost was the vocalist for Buffalo NY death metal band Baphomet (later Banished). He also was a guitar tech for Chimaira and Ill Nino.

Background

The early years

STEMM was formed in June 1998 by Joe Cafarella, Russ Martin and Jimi and Louis Penque. All the members had come from various other local acts. By December the band recorded a two song "promo" disc. Within four months' time, the album had sold well over 600 copies. Initially STEMM incorporated a hybrid of hardcore with rapcore much like the band E.Town Concrete. These sounds were very prominent on their first EP, entitled Further Efforts and also on their first independently released debut, entitled "Dead to Me" which was released in 2002. In July 2000, STEMM would announce the addition of second guitarist, Rich Spalla.

Forever for Now (LP album)

Forever for Now is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter LP. The album was released through Warner Bros. Records in June 2014, and is her major label full-length debut.

Background

LP released two independent studio albums, Heart-Shaped Scar (2001) and Suburban Sprawl & Alcohol (2004), which were commercially unsuccessful. After that, she started writing songs for other artists, most notably for Rihanna ("Cheers (Drink to That)"), Backstreet Boys, and Christina Aguilera.

Following a record deal signed with Warner Bros. Records in September 2011, LP recorded a song titled "Into the Wild", which was prominently used in a Citibank TV commercial in the end of 2011. In April 2012, LP released an extended play Into the Wild: Live at EastWest Studios, and "Into the Wild" was released as a single in May 2012. LP started touring, which pushed the release of her major-label debut album back. Initially, the album was going to sound as "a bit more of an acoustic thing," however, LP and producer Rob Cavallo started adding more layers to the songs, and eventually their sound grew bigger.

Salvation (Christianity)

Salvation, in Christianity, is the saving of the soul from sin and its consequences. It may also be called "deliverance" or "redemption" from sin and its effects.

Summary

According to Christian belief, salvation from sin in general and original sin in particular is made possible by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, which in the context of salvation is referred to as the "atonement". Christian soteriology ranges from exclusive salvation to universal reconciliation concepts. While some of the differences are as widespread as Christianity itself, the overwhelming majority agrees that Christian salvation is made possible by the work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, dying on the cross.

Preacher (comics)

Preacher is an American comic book series published by Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics. The series was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon with painted covers by Glenn Fabry.

The series consists of 75 issues in total - 66 regular, monthly issues, five one-shot specials and a four-issue Preacher: Saint of Killers limited series. The entire run has been collected in nine trade paperback editions. The final monthly issue, number 66, was published in October 2000.

Plot

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer is accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis, the infant product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon. The incident flattens Custer's church and kills his entire congregation.

Genesis has no sense of individual will, but since it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, its power might rival that of God Himself, making Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, potentially the most powerful being in the universe.
