Salim (also spelled Saleem or Selim or Slim, Arabic: سليم‎, properly transliterated as Salīm ) is a given name of Arabic origin meaning "safe" or "undamaged", related names are Selima, Salima, Saleemah, and Salma.

When transliterated, the name Salem (Arabic: سالم‎) can become indistinguishable in English, as the spelling Salim is also used, though with a long a and a short i sounds.

Saleem (film)

Saleem is a 2009 Telugu film directed by YVS Chowdary (of Devdas fame). Graphics are the main attraction of the movie. The film was released on 11 December 2009 with more than 21 mins of cut scenes in which the heroine was showcases extremely vulgar. The film stars Manchu Vishnu Vardhan Babu and Ileana D'Cruz. The film met with negative reviews from critics and was declared a flop at the box office. Movie was later dubbed in Hindi under the title The Fighterman Saleem.

Story

The movie starts with Saleem (Vishnu Manchu) beating up baddies in a village to save his love interest Priya (Ileana). A big flashback is there for him, He is the world's most wanted gangster. He is wanted in Mexico, Switzerland and Miami. In all these places he is big gangster. Why he went after Ileana makes up the rest of the story. Mohan Babu played an important role in this film.

Saleem (playwright)

Saleem is a Palestinian - American playwright, actor and dancer based in Los Angeles, California, United States. He was the recipient of a 1996 GLAAD Harvey Fierstein Award for Best Original Writing for his semi-autobiographical play Salam Shalom: A Tale Of Passion.

As a dancer, Saleem developed his own style which incorporates belly dancing, gypsy movements, flamenco and jazz to produce what he calls "free style belly dancing".
