St. Francis College

St. Francis College, often referred to as St. Francis or SFC, is a private, coeducational college located in Brooklyn Heights, New York, in the United States. The campus comprises five interconnected buildings, occupying half of a city block in Downtown Brooklyn. It was founded in 1859 by friars of the Order of Servant Franciscans, a Franciscan order, as the St. Francis Academy and was the first private school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. St. Francis College began as a parochial all-boys academy in the City of Brooklyn and has become a small liberal arts college that has 19 academic departments which offer 72 majors and minors.

St. Francis College is a predominantly undergraduate institution, yet does have graduate programs in accounting, project management and psychology. St. Francis has been ranked nationally and regionally by Forbes magazine, Washington Monthly, Money magazine and U.S. News & World Report as one of the top baccalaureate colleges. St. Francis is set in an urban environment and is considered a commuter college. As of 2015, there were 2,671 undergraduates (10% part-time) and 78 graduates (50% part-time). The student to faculty ratio is 17:1 and 55.9% of classes have 20 or fewer students. The 2,749 students that attend St. Francis College come from over 80 countries. St. Francis College has been ranked by the New York Times and Forbes as one of the more diverse colleges in the United States.

Saint Francis University

Saint Francis University (SFU) is a four-year, coeducational Catholic liberal arts university in Loretto, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1847 and conducted under the tradition of the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular. The university is situated on 600 acres (243 ha) in the forests and farmland of Loretto.

Located in Loretto, Pennsylvania, Saint Francis University enrolls approximately 1,832 undergraduate students (of whom, 40.7% are male and 59.3% female) and 617 graduate students. The University offers 25 undergraduate majors and 7 graduate fields of study (including Physical Therapy, in which the University awards a doctorate) to its students. The University maintains an average graduation rate of 69.9%. Saint Francis University has 22 men's and women's sports teams and competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The University of Saint Francis is a liberal arts university located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. Affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, the university promotes Catholic and Franciscan values. The school currently enrolls over 1,800 undergraduate students and almost 300 graduate students, the majority of the which come from states in the American Midwest, primarily Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio.

History

The University of Saint Francis was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1890. The campus moved to its current Fort Wayne location in 1944 to the estate of the former industrialist John H. Bass. The school, originally known as Saint Francis College, has remained in Fort Wayne and gradually expanded, adding a graduate school in 1960. Increased athletic programs for the Cougars, primarily football, as well as construction of athletic fields and residence halls and acquisition of the Lutheran College of Health Professions in the 1990s produced remarkable enrollment growth. It was renamed University of Saint Francis in year 1998.
