Sagarika Ghose

Sagarika Ghose (born 8 November 1964) is an Indian journalist, news anchor and author. She has been a journalist since 1991 and has worked at The Times Of India, Outlook and The Indian Express. She was the deputy editor and a prime time anchor on the news network CNN-IBN. Ghose has won several Indian awards in journalism and is the author of two novels. She resigned as deputy editor of CNN-IBN in July 2014 after the network was taken over by Reliance Industries. She is now consulting editor at The Times of India.

Personal life

Ghose received her bachelor's degree in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. A recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship in 1987, she has a Bachelor's in Modern History from Magdalen College and an M.Phil. from St Antony's College, Oxford. Since 1991, she has worked at The Times Of India, Outlook magazine and The Indian Express and was deputy editor and prime time anchor on the news network CNN-IBN.

She is the daughter of Bhaskar Ghose, formerly of the Indian Administrative Service 1960 batch, erstwhile Director General of Doordarshan, the Indian public television network. Her two aunts include Arundhati Ghose, former ambassador and diplomat and Ruma Pal, former justice of the Supreme Court of India. She is married to journalist and news anchor Rajdeep Sardesai. Rajdeep and Sagarika have two children, son Ishan, and daughter Tarini.

Sagarika (born Sagarika Mukherjee on 4 September 1970) is an Indian singer and actress. Before going solo, she was half of a popular Indian duet with her younger brother Shaan with whom she released albums such as Q-Funk, Roop Inka Mastana and Naujawan.

Biography

Sagarika Mukherjee was born on 4 September 1970.

She released the album Maa after going solo. Her album It’s All About Love was released in 2006 by Universal Distribution.

She collaborated with Pakistani band Strings on the song "Pal". It is featured in the band's fourth album Dhaani.

Sagarika (missile)

K-15 Sagarika (Sanskrit: सागरिका, Sāgarikā Oceanic) is a nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile with a range of 750 kilometres (466 mi). It belongs to the K Missile family and forms a part of India's nuclear triad, and will provide retaliatory nuclear strike capability.

Development

Development of the K-15 missile started in the late 1990s with the goal of building a submarine-launched ballistic missile for use with the Indian Navy nuclear-powered Arihant class submarines. It was developed at the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) missile complex in Hyderabad.

The development of the underwater missile launcher, known as Project 420, was completed in 2001 and handed over to the Indian Navy for trials. The missile launcher is developed at Hazira in Gujarat. The Sagarika missile began integration with India's nuclear-powered Arihant class submarine that began harbor trials on 26 July 2009.

By 2008, the missile was successfully test fired seven times, and tested to its full range up to four times. The tests of 26 February 2008, were conducted from a submerged pontoon 50 metres (160 ft) beneath the surface off the coast of Visakhapatnam. A land-based version of the K-15 Sagarika was successfully test-fired on 12 November 2008. A full range test of the missile was done on 11 March 2012. The twelfth and final development trial of the missiles was conducted on 27 January 2013. According to DRDO Director General V. K. Saraswat, the missile was again tested for its full range of 700 km and met all its objectives with a single digit impact-accuracy. The test will be followed by integration of the missile with INS Arihant. On 25 November 2015, a dummy or unarmed K-15 Sagarika missile was successfully test fired from INS Arihant. In December 2015, it was reported that the K-15 missile has entered production.
