Saad Khan

Saad Khan, born in Mumbai, India, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, acting teacher, founder and creative head of Centerstage, a new wave media movement based in Bangalore that promotes new artists in the city. He has worked in Bollywood as an Associate Director to Oscar nominated filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. Saad made Bangalore's first Hindi feature film Station, independently produced by Sumit Ghosh and released across India by PVR Director's Rare as well as in Indonesia; the film received positive reviews and has all newcomers acting alongside established Bollywood actor, Gulshan Grover. In 2008, Khan's short film Another Kind of Black was screened in Cannes Film Festival. In early 2015, Saad filmed his first Hollywood feature film titled LOVE AND SHE in Louisiana. Produced by Dr. Jatin Patel from Atlanta, the film is a romantic drama that deals with psychological stress and depression after a miscarriage, and is set to release in 2016.

Early life and career

Khan was born in Mumbai, India, and was raised in Bangalore. Khan studied at Baldwin Boys High School and St. Joseph's, eventually graduating as a Mechanical Engineer from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology. While studying to be an engineer, he developed an interest in theatre at the age of 17 and started writing and directing plays, after spearheading a theatre group which produced over 12 plays in 4 years.

Ṣade (also spelled Ṣādē, Tsade, Ṣaddi, Ṣad, Tzadi, Sadhe, Tzaddik) is the eighteenth letter of the Semitic abjads, including Phoenician Çādē , Hebrew ˈṢādi צ, Aramaic Ṣādhē , Syriac Ṣāḏē ܨ, and Arabic Ṣād ص. Its oldest sound value is probably /sˤ/, although there is a variety of pronunciation in different modern Semitic languages and their dialects. It represents the coalescence of three Proto-Semitic "emphatic consonants" in Canaanite. Arabic, which kept the phonemes separate, introduced variants of ṣād and ṭāʾ to express the three (see ḍād, ẓāʾ). In Aramaic, these emphatic consonants coalesced instead with ʿayin and ṭēt, respectively, thus Hebrew ereẓ ארץ (earth) is araʿ ארע in Aramaic.

The Phoenician letter is continued in the Greek San (Ϻ) and possibly Sampi (Ϡ), and in Etruscan 𐌑 Ś. It may have inspired the form of the letter Tse in the Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabet.

The corresponding letter of the Ugaritic alphabet is 𐎕 ṣade.

The letter is known as "tsadik" in Yiddish, and Hebrew speakers often give it that name as well. This name for the letter probably originated from a fast recitation of the alphabet (i.e., "tsadi, qoph" -> "tsadiq, qoph"), influenced by the Hebrew word tzadik, meaning 'righteous person'.

Khan! is an American television detective series. Set in San Francisco, it is named after the central character, a Chinese-American detective, played by Khigh Dhiegh. Evan C. Kim and Irene Yah-Ling Sun are featured as his relatives. Four episodes were aired in February 1975 on CBS. Dhiegh is best known for his portrayal of the Chinese spy Wo Fat on Hawaii Five-O from 1968 to 1980.

In an unusual move, Dhiegh insisted on having no onscreen billing for his role, despite playing the title character. In an interview to promote the show, he stated, "To be made the focal point of attention is something that disturbs me greatly. After all, we must remember it is not me, the individual, that is important. That is why I have told CBS I want no credits for the series. The goal is not to make any one person a star, but to create something that is good for all."

Administrative divisions of Cambodia

Cambodia is divided into 24 provinces (Khmer: ខេត្ត, khaet) (as of January 2014 New Province of Tboung Khmum split off from Kampong Cham Province) and the special administrative unit Phnom Penh (Khmer: ភ្នំពេញ, Phnom Penh). Though a different administrative unit, Phnom Penh is at province level, so de facto Cambodia has 25 provinces and municipality.

Each of Cambodia's 24 provinces is divided into Districts (Khmer: ស្រុក, Srok)- as of 2010 there are 159 districts and 12 districts in Phnom Penh (Khmer: ខណ្ឌ, Khan). Each of the provinces has one capital district (changed to "City/Town", Khmer: ក្រុង, Krong), e.g. for Siem Reap it's Srok Siem Reap. The exceptions are Banteay Meanchey, Kandal, Mondulkiri, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear Province and Rattanakiri, where the province and the capital district does not match together.

District (ស្រុក, srok) of a province is divided into "Communes" (Khmer: ឃុំ, Khum). "Commune" (Khmer: ឃុំ, Khum) is further divided into "Villages" (Khmer: ភូមិ, Phum).
