State Route 86 (SR 86) is a north–south state highway in the southeastern desert region of Southern California, United States. It runs from State Route 111, near the Mexican border crossing at Calexico, north through the Imperial Valley via El Centro and Brawley, and around the west side of the Salton Sea into the Coachella Valley. It joins State Route 111 at Coachella and heads into Indio, ending at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Avenue 46, where SR 111 turns west onto Avenue 46. (The locally-maintained Interstate 10 Business continues northwest on Indio Boulevard, as did SR 86 before that portion was removed from the state highway system.)
The legal definition of SR 86 takes it to Interstate 10 in Indio.
SR 86 is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System.
SR 86 begins at an intersection with SR 111 just east of the town of Heber as Heber Road. After traveling west through Heber and intersecting CR S31, SR 86 turns north and enters the city of El Centro as 4th Street, having an interchange with I-8. Passing through downtown El Centro, SR 86 intersects Main Street (CR S80) before curving to the west as Adams Avenue. The highway continues north on Imperial Avenue before entering the city of Imperial and passing by Imperial County Airport. SR 86 continues north through Imperial before leaving the city limits.
The following highways are numbered 86:
State Route 86 is a 32-mile-long (51 km) route in Pickens County in the western part of the state. The route begins at the Mississippi-Alabama state line and is a continuation of Mississippi Highway 388. The eastern terminus of the route is at its junction with U.S. Highway 82 at Gordo.
State Route 86 is aligned along a two-lane roadway as it enters Alabama. Just east of the Mississippi-Alabama state line the route crosses the Tom Bevill Lock and Dam and enters the town of Pickensville. The route assumes an eastward orientation as it continues across Pickens County, connecting Pickensville with Carrollton and Gordo, where it junctions U.S. Highway 82, which leads eastwardly to Tuscaloosa.
State Route 86 was designated in 1957. The original route ran from the Mississippi state line to Carrollton, replacing County Road 70. The route was extended eastward to its current terminus in 1962, replacing County Road 12.
The entire route is in Pickens County.
State Route 86 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It is a short connector road, only 2.1 miles (3.4 km) long, that connects I-84 with SR-65 in the town of Henefer.
The highway starts at the northeast side access ramps of I-84 at exit 112. From there, it crosses southwest under the interstate and takes an immediate turn southeast. It continues in this direction as main street in Henefer for approximately 2 miles until it terminates at the intersection with SR-65 (East Canyon Road) in the central part of town.
From 1935 to 1969, State Route 86 was a different highway, connecting towns in Duchesne County. That highway designation was deleted in 1969.
Prior to 1975, the road currently designated as SR-86 was actually a spur of SR-65; the main route of SR-65 turned southeast to the east Henefer interchange. This spur was redesignated as a distinct state route in 1975.
The entire route is in Henefer, Summit County.
