State Route 162 is a state highway located in San Juan County, Utah. It begins at US-191 east of Bluff. It then follows the former alignment of SR-163 to Montezuma Creek. There, it intersects UT-262 at its southern terminus. Afterwards, it follows SR-262's former alignment past Aneth to the Colorado state line. Colorado State Highway 41 takes over in the Centennial State, ending at a junction with US-160 6 miles east of the Four Corners Monument.

Route description

The road begins at U.S. Route 191 in Bluff in a desert area. Paralleling the San Juan River along Mission Road, the road winds eastward along the north border of the Navajo Indian Reservation. Travelling through the city of Montezuma Creek, the road intersects State Route 262. The route then travels through the city of Aneth along the Trail of the Ancients, entering the Navajo Indian Reservation. SH 162 meets its east end at the Colorado state line, where State Highway 41 continues into the Ute Mountain Indian Reservation.

California State Route 162

State Route 162 runs roughly west–east from U.S. Route 101 near Longvale, in Mendocino County, to Oroville, in Butte County. For most of its length, it is a two lane, undivided highway. The highway is broken into two pieces; the state's sponsorship of the road ends where it enters the Mendocino National Forest in Mendocino County where it becomes an unimproved dirt road maintained by the U.S. Forest Service as Forest Highway 7 (FH 7). State Route 162 begins again at the eastern boundary of the National Forest in Glenn County, some 30 miles (48 km) west of Willows.

Route description

Longvale to Covelo

State Route 162 (SR 162) begins in Mendocino County at Longvale, 10 miles (16 km) south of the town of Laytonville along U.S. Route 101. It goes east through Long Valley next to the Middle Fork of the Eel River. On the opposite bank of the river is the right of way of the disused Northwestern Pacific Railroad. It is 30 miles (48 km) from Longvale to Covelo. This portion of SR 162 is called Covelo Road. Covelo is in Round Valley, home of the Round Valley Indian Reservation. SR 162 is called Commercial Street as it goes north through the center of town. Beyond Covelo, there are 11 miles (18 km) of paved road, called Mendocino Pass Road, between Covelo and the Mendocino National Forest.
