SIPS 1259-4336

SIPS 1259-4336 is a nearby red dwarf star, located in constellation Centaurus at 11.8 light-years from Earth, or, according unpublished RECONS trigonometric distance estimate, taken from website en.allexperts.com, at 25.4 light-years from Earth.

History of observations

Discovery of SIPS 1259-4336 was published in 2005 by Deacon et al. The star was detected by its high proper motion from the Southern Infrared Proper Motion Survey (SIPS).

Distance

There is an unpublished trigonometric distance estimate from website en.allexperts.com: Tom Whiting e-mailed Todd Henry from RECONS team around 2008, and the reply was that theirs unpublished distance estimate of SIPS 1259-4336 is 7000779000000000000♠7.79±0.05 parsecs (7001254000000000000♠25.4±0.2 light-years).

As of May 2015, the only published distance estimates of SIPS 1259-4336 besides trigonometric parallax with high uncertainty from the star's discovery paper (6994133808575986232♠276±41 mas) is a parallax without error (~128 mas) from Burgasser et al. (2015). References of SIPS 1259-4336 data, including the parallax, were Deacon et al. (2005a) and T. Henry, priv. comm.

Siilinjärven Palloseura

Siilinjärven Palloseura (abbreviated SiPS) is a football club from Siilinjärvi, Finland. The club was formed in 1974 and their home ground is at the Ahmo urheilualue. The men's first team currently plays in the Kolmonen (Third Division).

Background

The club has evolved dramatically in recent years and now has around 350 members. In Autumn 2009 the Ahmo urheilualue (sports area) was opened by the club, including the Yara Arena sports hall and a full size artificial turf football pitch

During the period 1997 to 2007 SiPS competed in the Kolmonen but in 2008 withdrew because of economic reasons. However the men's first team re-formed in 2009 and competed in the Nelonen. Their first season back was a great success which culminated in promotion back to the Kolmonen.

Siilinjärven Palloseura run a large number of teams including 2 men's teams, 1 ladies teams, 9 boys teams and 3 girls teams.

The junior section of the club has around 300 registered players including about 70 girls. The club is able to provide high quality training facilities on both synthetic and natural grass and within the training hall. In 2007 and 2008 the B-juniors won the Kokkola Cup.
