The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) is a collective term for the scientific search for intelligent extraterrestrial life. For example, monitoring electromagnetic radiation for signs of transmissions from civilizations on other worlds.
There are great challenges in searching the universe for signs of intelligent life, including their identification and interpretation. As various SETI projects have progressed, some have criticized early claims by researchers as being too "euphoric".
Scientific investigation of the potential phenomenon began shortly after the advent of radio in the early 1900s. Focused international efforts to answer a variety of scientific questions have been going on since the 1980s. In 2015, Stephen Hawking and Russian billionaire Yuri Milner announced a well-funded effort, called the Breakthrough Initiatives to expand efforts to search for extraterrestrial life.
As early as 1896, Nikola Tesla suggested that an extreme version of his wireless electrical transmission system could be used to contact beings on Mars. In 1899 while conducting experiments at his Colorado Springs experimental station, he thought he had detected a signal from the planet since an odd repetitive static signal seemed to cut off when Mars set in the night sky. Analysis of Tesla's research has ranged from suggestions that Tesla detected nothing, he simply was misunderstanding the new technology he was working with, to claims that Tesla may have been observing signals from Marconi's European radio experiments and even that he could have picked up naturally occurring Jovian plasma torus signals. In the early 1900s, Guglielmo Marconi, Lord Kelvin, and David Peck Todd also stated their belief that radio could be used to contact Martians, with Marconi stating that his stations had also picked up potential Martian signals.
The Viceroy of Kush Seti is attested in year 1 of Siptah. Seti is also mentioned on some monuments of his son Amenemhab. Amenemhab was the son of Seti and the Lady Amenemtaiauw. Seti held the titles fan-bearer on the king's right, and king's scribe of the letters of the Pharaoh. His son Amenemheb served as Head Bowman, Charioteer of His Majesty, and Overseer of the Southern Lands.
In Abu Simbel Seti is given the titles: Hereditary Prince, Count, King's Son of Kush, Overseer of the Gold Lands of Amun, Fan-bearer on the King's right, King's Scribe of the letters of Pharaoh, First chief in the stable, Eyes of the King of Upper Egypt, Ears of the King of Lower Egypt, High-Priest of the Moon-god, Thoth, Overseer of the Treasury, and Overseer of the letter-scribes in the Court of the Palace-of-Ramesses-Miamun, in the Court.
Seti is attested in:
Seti or Suti was an ancient Egyptian soldier during the late 18th dynasty (14th century BCE), the commander of the army, later mentioned as vizier on monuments of his son, Pharaoh Ramesses I.
Seti, the forefather of the 19th dynasty was from a military family in the Delta. According to one theory he is identical with a royal envoy mentioned in the Amarna letters as Shuta. His brother Khaemwaset is probably identical with the Royal Fanbearer and Chief of the Bowmen of Kush Khaemwaset, who is mentioned on a statue dating to Tutankhamen's reign. Khaemwaset's wife Taemwadjsy was mistress of the Harem of Amun and is probably the same Taemwadjsy who was sister to Huy, Viceroy of Kush. So Seti was the member of a very prominent family, and after his son Paramessu (Ramesses I) was chosen by Pharaoh Horemheb as his successor, Seti's descendants went on to form one of the most powerful dynasties of Egypt.
A fragment of a votive stela of his is now in the Oriental Institute in Chicago. This fragment is 115 cm wide and 65–70 cm high, its upper part depicts a sitting male and female figure, but only the feet remained intact. Its lower part shows three persons in clothing influenced by Amarna-style, flanked by Khaemwaset and Ramesses, who is named Ramose here. The stela's inscription is: “an offering to the ka of Osiris-Suti, Commander of the Troops of the Lord of the Two Lands”.
In the darkness of space
They suffer in temptation
Dementia creeping closer
But what difference does it make?
Sometimes the best way up is down
And for some moments in life there are no words
The sky is filled with dead stars
There's no escape, there's no return
In a state of terror and confusion
With euphoria as an ambition
Through the doors of perception
We will leave this land behind
(I know, you know, we know)
Wide open space so out of place
We were exiled and we were disgraced
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Eye at the center, dawn of our race
Edge of the cosmos, heart of all space
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Wide open space so out of place
We were exiled and we were disgraced
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Eye at the center, dawn of our race
Edge of the cosmos, heart of all space
(It's true)
The ancient deception, the so-called fall from grace
And Eden was just a place in outer space
The shining ones, the keepers of the garden
The ancient ones, those who came from the sky
I know, you know, we know it's true
I know, you know, we know it's true
(I know, you know, we know)
Wide open space so out of place
We were exiled and we were disgraced
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Eye at the center, dawn of our race
Edge of the cosmos, heart of all space
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Wide open space so out of place
We were exiled and we were disgraced
(It's true)
(I know, you know, we know)
Eye at the center, dawn of our race
Edge of the cosmos, heart of all space
(It's true)
