SBS 9

SBS 9 is a Dutch commercial TV channel owned by Sanoma Media Netherlands (67%) and Talpa Media Holding (33%) through SBS Broadcasting B.V.. The channel was launched on 1 January 2015 at 12:00 CET with a movie marathon Other channels of the group in the Netherlands are SBS 6, NET 5 and Veronica.

History

SBS Broadcasting announced its plans for a launch of a fourth channel in the Netherlands already in 2009. On 22 August 2014, the company officially released its definite plans for a new channel targeting female viewers. The channel got its name SBS 9 on 27 September 2014. The launch date was set in January 2015.

SBS 2 is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel, which was launched by SBS on 1 June 2009.

History

In a statement made by SBS in early 2009 they announced plans for the channel "SBS World" that would replace SBS World News Channel. On 26 April 2009, Freeview's website and advertisements showed that the channel would be called "SBS TWO".

On 12 May 2009, SBS revealed programming details for the SBS TWO launch. This included a 5-minute feature at 6 pm called SBS TWO Launch: What is SBS TWO? then the Academy Award winning short film Harvie Krumpet. On 1 June 2009, the SBS World News Channel ended broadcast and went into a loop of advertising for SBS TWO before the official launch later that day. SBS had originally planned for the channel to focus on Asia-Pacific speciality shows, international children's programming and English learning programmes.

On 20 February 2013, SBS announced major changes to the programming on SBS TWO, with a relaunch as a bold, provocative channel for younger audiences aged 16–39 from 1 April 2013, known as "SBS 2". In 2015, they screened the Australian documentary series Hipsters.

SBS 6 is a Dutch commercial TV channel owned by SBS Broadcasting B.V., formerly a part of SBS Broadcasting Group and now owned by Sanoma Media Netherlands (67%) and Talpa Media Holding (33%). Other channels of the group in the Netherlands are NET 5, Veronica and SBS 9.

History

SBS stands for Scandinavian Broadcasting System. When the SBS Broadcasting Group started expanding outside of Scandinavia in 1995, one of the first countries where they set up a channel was the Netherlands with SBS 6. SBS 6 was the third Dutch commercial TV station after RTL 4 and RTL 5. SBS 6 launched on 28 August 1995.

When SBS 6 was launched, they were in a tough competition with the channel Veronica, which started as a commercial station at the same time. Both SBS 6 and Veronica wanted to be on channel 6 of the viewer's television.

The SBS Broadcasting Group expanded their Dutch channel list with NET 5 on 1 March 1999. In 2003 Veronica was added to the list of channels.

The German ProSiebenSat.1 Media took over the parent company, SBS Broadcasting Group, on 27 June 2007. In 2011, all of SBS's activities in the Netherlands (through SBS Broadcasting B.V.), including the three TV stations (SBS 6, NET 5 and Veronica), the two TV guides (Veronica Magazine and Totaal TV), production, design and text activities were sold to a joint venture between Sanoma Media Netherlands (67%) and Talpa Media Holding (33%).

Plus (band)

Plus (stylised as +Plus) is a Japanese pop boy band formed in December 2009 that has been signed to the label, Pony Canyon. The group combines in its pop tunes elements of genres such as hip hop, reggae, and R&B.

They released their debut album Canvas in 2010. They are well known for singing the opening and ending themes for popular anime such as Fairy Tail and Reborn! (aka Hitman Reborn) .

Plus (formerly Plus GSM) is the brand name of Poland's mobile phone network operator, Polkomtel. The company is entirely owned by Spartan Capital Holdings sp. z o.o. It operates GSM (900/1800 MHz), UMTS and WLAN networks in Poland. It was founded 1995.

At the end of 2011, Plus had 13,698 million customers, including 6,576 million (47%) in prepaid system.

In July 2011, Zygmunt Solorz-Żak agreed to buy Polkomtel SA for 15.1 billion zlotys ($5.5 billion).

Plus (also known as Visa Plus or the Plus System) is an interbank network that covers all Visa credit, debit, and prepaid cards, as well as ATM cards issued by various banks worldwide. Currently, there are over one million Plus-linked ATMs in 170 countries worldwide.

Plus cards can be linked in the following ways: as a standalone network, linked with a local interbank network and/or linked with any Visa product displaying the Visa flag on the front (Visa, Visa Debit and Visa Electron). Currently, there are 144 million proprietary Plus cards, not including a number of cards which have Plus as a secondary network.

Plus is widely used as a local interbank network most common in the United States where networks such as STAR, NYCE and Pulse also compete. It is also used in Canada, though it is significantly smaller than Interac there, and in places such as India and Indonesia where there are many interbank networks. The main competitor of Plus is Cirrus, which is offered by Visa rival MasterCard.
