SBC (codec)

The Low Complexity Subband Coding or (SBC), is an audio subband codec specified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) for the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). SBC is a digital audio encoder and decoder used to transfer data to Bluetooth audio output devices like headphones or loudspeakers. It can also be used on the Internet. It was designed to obtain a reasonably good audio quality at medium bit rates while keeping low computational complexity, having Bluetooth bandwidth limitations and processing power in mind. As of A2DP version 1.3, the Low Complexity Subband Coding remains the default codec and its implementation is mandatory for devices supporting that profile. Other codecs can be run on top of A2DP along with SBC though.

Design

SBC supports mono and stereo streams, certain sampling frequencies up to 48 kHz and maximum bit rates of 198 kbit/s for mono and 345 kbit/s for stereo streams. It uses 4 or 8 subbands, an adaptive bit allocation algorithm in combination with an adaptive block PCM quantizers. Frans de Bont has based the SBC audio codec on his earlier work, and – in parts – on the MPEG-1 Audio Layer II standard. In addition, the SBC is based on the algorithms described in the EP-0400755B1. The patent owners wrote that they allow the free usage of SBC in Bluetooth application, with the view to boost the use of this technology.

NorthernTool.com 250

The NorthernTool.com 250 was a NASCAR Nationwide Series race held at the Milwaukee Mile. From 1984 to 1985, the race was 200 laps, 200 miles (321.9 km) long. From 1986 to 1992, no race was held. In 1993, the race returned, and was increased to 250 laps, 250 miles (402.3 km), a distance it has remained at since. The race was traditionally held Sunday afternoons, while the Winston Cup Series was either off or at a different venue, but starting in 2004, the race has been run on Saturday night.

Until the race sponsor changed to Camping World in 2008, the sponsorship of this race was not affected by the September 7, 2007, settlement between AT&T and NASCAR in regard to a grandfathered sponsorship deal, as Anheuser-Busch, the sponsor of the now NASCAR Nationwide Series at the time of the lawsuit, was not associated with the wireless industry. The 2010 race was canceled and the date was moved across Wisconsin to Road America.

Park (Wolverhampton ward)

Park ward is a ward of Wolverhampton City Council, West Midlands. It is located to the west of the city centre, and covers parts of the suburbs Bradmore, Compton, Finchfield, Merridale, Newbridge and Whitmore Reans. It borders the St Peter's, Graiseley, Merry Hill, Tettenhall Wightwick and Tettenhall Regis wards. It forms part of the Wolverhampton South West constituency.

Its name comes from the fact that two of the city's main parks, West Park and Bantock Park, lie within its boundaries. The ward also contains the Chapel Ash conservation area and also the Parkdale conservation area. Some other interesting architecture can be seen within the ward, particularly on the Tettenhall Road, such as first Mayor of Wolverhampton, George Thorneycroft's House. Two of the city's main thoroughfares are contained largely within the ward, namely the A41 Tettenhall Road and the Compton Road (A454. The Halfway House on Tettenhall Road was formerly a coaching house on the London to Holyhead route and as the name suggests, was the half way point. It was a pub for many years but is currently (2009) closed and for sale.

Park (film)

Park is the name of an independent comedy-drama film released in 2007. It was produced by Dana Jackson and directed by Kurt Voelker.

The story revolves around a Los Angeles park, where ten colorful characters encounter love - and loss - in the course of one day.

It received the Audience Award at the 8th Annual CineVegas Festival where it was premiered in June 2006. After a limited theatrical run in 2007, it was released on DVD on May 20, 2008.

Park (Reading ward)

Park is an electoral ward of the Borough of Reading, in the English county of Berkshire. It is the far eastern ward and is bordered to its west by Abbey and Redlands wards. On the north, east and south it is bordered by the civil parish of Earley in the Borough of Wokingham.

As with all wards, apart from smaller Mapledurham, it elects three councillors to Reading Borough Council. Elections since 2004 are held by thirds, with elections in three years out of four.

In the 2011, 2012 and 2014 a Green Party candidate won each election.
