Reach Out (Hilary Duff song)

"Reach Out" is a song recorded by American singer Hilary Duff for the planned re-release of her fourth studio album, Dignity (2007). It was written by Martin Gore, Ryan "Alias" Tedder, Evan Bogart, Mika Guillory and produced by Tedder. The song was released on October 20, 2008 by Hollywood Records as the first and only single from Duff's first greatest hits album, Best of Hilary Duff (2008).

Background and production

The song was produced by Ryan "Alias" Tedder and co-written by Tedder, Evan Bogart, and Mika Guillory. It is built around a sample of Depeche Mode's 1989 song "Personal Jesus". On the last episode of Total Finale Live, Duff described the song by saying that "[i]t's different for me. It's a little dancey, and there's a rapper named Prophet who's on it who's really cool and kinda fresh".

Duff said in September 2007 that a previously unheard song on the Dignity Tour's set list, "Reach Out", would be released as a single. In an interview with Joe Bermudez in November 2007, Duff revealed that her fourth studio album Dignity would be re-released. The re-release would feature remixes of the original songs alongside "two or three" new recordings, including "Reach Out" and "Holiday". While "Reach Out" and "Holiday" were already completed, Duff hoped to write a third new song for the re-release, but this never came to be. Duff revealed that she wanted "Holiday" to be either the first or second single from the re-release.

ReachOut.com is an internet service for young people that provides information, support and resources about mental health issues and enable them to develop resilience, increase coping skills, and facilitate help-seeking behaviour. ReachOut.com was launched in March 1998 as an initiative of Inspire Foundation (now known as ReachOut Australia) to help young people with their mental health. ReachOut.com has now expanded to the United States and Ireland.

ReachOut provides online support to young people going through tough times. It provides online resources like real stories and fact sheets which are written alongside young people, and a peer-support forum which is a space where young people can talk about mental health issues and receive support and help.

S.E.S. (Hangul: 에스.이.에스; initialism for Sea, Eugene, Shoo) was a South Korean girl group under the management of SM Entertainment. Lasting from 1997 to 2002, they were viewed as the female version of H.O.T., another SM group who also enjoyed phenomenal popularity during the same years.

S.E.S. was K-pop's first highly successful girl group. They were challenged by groups like Fin.K.L and Baby V.O.X, which debuted soon after S.E.S. and were also successful.

Through the years, the members went through various style and image changes. S.E.S. broke up at the end of 2002, and its members have gone solo to varying degrees of success.

Pre-debut: Discovery

The official biography video states that Bada was the first one discovered in 1996, when Lee Soo Man saw her singing at her performing arts school. Taken by her voice, he quickly offered her a recording contract, and was therefore the first member to be chosen. Eugene, on the other hand, did not first appear in person. She, in fact, sent in a video from Guam, where she was living at the time, which showcased her bubbly personality. SM executives saw the video and agreed that Eugene could be a star. The last member to join was Shoo, who was the only member to go through a "real" audition process. Executives figured that Shoo would be a nice fit to the group, and so the group was formed. They quickly began training, going through voice, dance, and interview lessons.

I'm Your Girl is the 1997 debut album by Korean pop group S.E.S., released under SM Entertainment. It sold approximately 650,000 copies. It had two promotional singles, the title track "I'm Your Girl" and "Oh, My Love".

Release and promotion

I'm Your Girl is the debut album by one of South Korea's "first generation" idol groups, S.E.S. Under SM Entertainment's management, it was produced wholly by Lee Soo-man. Its original release was on King Records with subsequent releases by Synnara Records. Today the album is distributed by KMP Holdings.

The lead promotional song, "I'm Your Girl" features rapping by Eric Mun and Andy Lee prior to their debut with Shinhwa. Its music video was different from that of other female performers of the time, in that it focused on the group members' singing instead of their sexiness. It remained one of the most requested music videos on popular music request shows of the time for 13 to 14 weeks. In 2001, the song was included on SM Entertainment's compilation album, SM Best Album 2 and again on a Japanese release of S.E.S.' Korean songs, Beautiful Songs. The song was remixed by Japanese rapper Kreva, then of the Kick the Can Crew, and was featured on the group's second single in Japan.
